Caley was there for a multitude of reasons--reasons she wouldn't entirely tell anyone who asked. For her own entertainment, sure--her own relief even. But beyond that, she was there on business. Business she consider far more dangerous and courageous than the rest of Red Riding Hood III's royal court gave their time for. She was the Queen's adviser, the bridge that connected the royal court of the northern 2nd kingdom to the commoners that fought and salvaged for their lives below.

She gave the smallest nod to the barkeep, watching absentmindedly as they disappeared for a moment, no doubt in search of some suitable drink for Caley. Her eyes drifted over the dingy pub, taking in the dank darkness and the small groups gathered together for some relief against the danger that lurked just beyond the wooden walls.

Caley took the metal cup offered to her a moment later, thanking the barkeep before she moved forward, quietly lurking and slowly walking as she caught snippets of the conversations she passed. It was one table, however, that caught her attention as she brought the cup to reach her lips.

"You heard it, didn't you?" A woman with dark hair asked one with light, their table tucked off to the left side of the small room. "This morning, another group of them overran Montgue--that's only a days time away from here. By night fall, I imagine there'll be here next."

"Oy--" Caley announced her presence with a sharp tone, eyes focused instead on a third woman, this one a table away from the one she had been listening to. Caley arched a challenging eyebrow as she pushed back some of her hair and leaned forward, resting her free palm flat on the table top. "Up--get up. I don't intend to tell you twice so you might do yourself a bit of good to get up now." Caley told the slender woman in the chair, silence falling over her as she waited impatient for the woman to forfeit her chair. Caley snatched it with her free hand and pulled it towards the dark and light haired woman, turning it around before she sat down and set her glass on the table top.

"Aye--Kelly and Candice, how absolutely dashing it is to see you." Caley told them both with a bright smile, her accent light and airy, contradicting the sarcasm of her voice. "Can I ask what we're talking about? A little smattering of your little conversation will suffice--please, don't hold out on my account." Caley told them as she leaned back in the wooden chair and brought the cup to her lips again.

Kelly lowered her hood on her cape as she stepped into the pub, her eyes glazing over the familiar faces that littered it. To some she would nod, to those she knew better, she might smile as she moved towards her usual table and the woman that sat there already waiting for her. This was her pub... well maybe not hers in ownership but it was where she spent a lot of time. This was her town, her people, her extended family. There was no doubt that she held pride in the dark and dingy room and its mishmash group of patrons.

Beyond her hard eyes was a kindness, a softness, to each and every person that she passed as she did her best to look out after them. It seemed it was solely up to her lately.

"Sorry I'm late." She said, a term usually used but she actually meant. She didn't bother ordering anything. She wasn't hungry or thirsty, she just needed to get in a little socializing and news before she headed out for the night and to her home, especially today. None of this troll business felt right to her. First the wolves were taken then the trolls start stomping in. A more paranoid person might think it all planned to bring them down.

Kelly just thought it was a row of coincedences sent to screw over what had to be the unluckiest of kingdoms.

"They'll wait. At least a day. Then, I make no promises." She said seriously as she watched Candice. "If that's even true. Susie told me they were in Travers so there's no telling who is right. Hopefully not both of you."

Any bit of caring that had been in her eyes left as she heard the voice and she turned her head towards Caley, sitting back in her seat as she proceeded to take another woman's. Just like one of them. They didn't belong in her pub to begin with and yet when they came, they acted like they had the right to treat everyone else like dirt. Yes, they might be able to due to the law but that didn't give them the right. Common courtesty didn't allow that type of behavior. "Trolls." She said bluntly. They could do nothing about common gossip amongst the people, no matter how the woman decided to act. Kelly never waivered beneath Caley's authority.

"The word is they've apparently made it all the way to Montgue. Terrible, isn't it?" She asked, her conversational tone hiding something unseen beneath it.

"Is that so?" Caley asked, her true interest masked by the condensing nature of her tone. It had long ago been lost on her to be kind and gentle to get what she wanted--to cater to the bridge she was supposed to create between the commoners and the royals by treating them with respect. Her perception of their lives and their struggle had long ago been skewed, blocked completely by a thick haze of annoyance and anger. Where that came from was unknown to all that met Caley and she aimed to keep it as such.

"I had heard of it, actually--oh but don't tell me you two don't actually believe those bloody rumors. Ballocks..oh no, Lord no. Are you both daft--I'd like to think not. The future of our kingdom rests in your hands and to even think that it's been put into incapable, completely mental hands..." Caley trailed off, taking a drink from her glass as her eyes shifted between Candice and Kelly.

"The Trolls..ahh yes, those dreadful lads. I don't care a bit what you've been hearing, though. If they're in Montgue or in Travers or in ruddy Garble Passage..." Caley leaned forward, eyes shifting between them. They softened for a moment, almost as if the harshness she normally held was slowly peeling away. "Wherever you've heard they are, it doesn't matter. They'll be gone soon enough and everything in the kingdom will be restored again."

Caley gripped tightly to the edge of the table, her words pouring out more out of necessity that out of truthfulness. She was supposed to help keep balance, to restore order and squash rumors such as this that she came across. Therefore, even if she had to bend the truth slightly to do it, Caley was submersed entirely into their conversation. "I have it on the queen's word herself--the Trolls are nothing to worry about for long--a mere nuisance to us but nothing to gossip about in a pub."

Caley leaned back. "A moment of rest during less than happy times shouldn't be spent worrying about something shouldn't be worried about." Caley told them simple, a certain air of finality to her voice as she took her cup again, certain that they would believe every word she uttered.
