Jaxton straightened his high collar discreetly as he left his horse tied to the hitching post just outside town. There was a moment were he stood still in his spot, peering down at his pin-stripped trousers and paying careful attention to the straightness of his jacket. Jaxton made perfectly sure that everything was in order--perfect order--before a smile crossed his face and he left his horse and stepped deeper into the known for its romance.

Jaxton too in the magic of the air and the warmth from above in stride, flashing his most charming smile to those that walked by. Those that laughed, that gave him any notice at all, received a wider smile and the smallest of winks. "Ooh---please, be still my beating heart." Jaxton said with a pre-orchestrated breathlessness to his voice as he stopped short, eyes set on a red hair maiden as she carried her basket and walked through the main street. Jaxton quickly linked arms with her free on, his smile growing even wider as he gently eased her to a stop.

"Forgive me for being so forward but never, in all my life, have I seen someone of your grandeur. Is it the sun and the way it washes over your auburn hair? Perhaps--ahh, but I think it may be more. It's your plump lips and those irresistibly adorable cheeks--" Jaxton leaned down and pressed his lips lightly against the small blush that seemed to rise against her skin as she giggled at his words.

"--but it is an inner beauty too. You are beautiful in your mind, I have no qualms about it...but your heart. Here--right here, my love." Jaxton said quietly, resting a hand just above where her heart would be. "Your heart is just as--if not more--beautiful than I can even fathom describing. Come with me, please. I cannot imagine what I can do to prove to you how special you are but I can certainly give it a try. Will you all me the chance?" Jaxton asked, his words full of passion and intensity that he didn't necessarily feel in his own heart.

A wide smile crossed his face when she agreed, abandoning whatever it was she was doing for before. "Oh yes, you will not regret it--come with me. Come, my love." Jaxton shifted so that her hand was in his and he brought it to his lips, a smile crossing his face again before he grasp firmly to her hand and led her towards the wooden door to the nearest restaurant.

Payton balanced the engraved platter against his hip, setting down the two silver goblets onto the table before the two customers before smiling wide. "Enjoy." He simply said before disappearing back by the wooden bar at the other end of the room. The walls were dark wood and the windows held deep red drapery that let in light from the street outside only slightly. The rest of the cozy room was lit by red glowing lamps at each table, red and pink flower petals scattered around each candelabra.

"I think it's going to be a good day, Ash." He said brightly as he set down the platter and straighted the apron tied across his front. He immediately scooped up the rag resting just underneath the bar's surface, his eyes drifting over towards Ash with bright eyes, excited eyes. It was an oddity for him--a majority of the time he was focused, mind set and ready for what the day held for them. A with that focus came a certain seriousness he didn't often shed. But for Ash--for Hayden too--it fell away even on those serious days. Today, however, was a special one--it was a great one.

"Don't you think? The sun is perfect and right there in the farthest corner--you see them? Caniberry and Reagan--they haven't been here in weeks but I think..." Payton smiled wide as he wiped down the surface of the counter. "I think we might be responsible for some extra magic today." Payton told him brightly, a soft laugh coming out him. Any moment where they helped people fall in love, helped bring about romance at its best, was the perfect moment to Payton.

His eyes flickered up towards the door as it opened, two people coming in with wide smiles and loving faces. However, on Payton's second glance, his own smile dropped and he straightened up, abandoning the wash rag. "Hayden--" Payton said sharply but quietly, eyes snapping towards Ash. All of his happiness was ripped away in that moment, leaving an empty sort of middle in him right then. He quickly looked out towards the rest of the room, catching sight of youngest Lionel on the other side. "We have to take care of Hayden." Payton mumbled quickly, not aware that Ash could no doubt hear him, as he moved to circle around the bar to get to Hayden before he saw.

Ash was standing still, straight, with rigid grace and poise. He smiled though when Payton came to him. The boy was just that; barely old enough to be considered a man - if he was, however he - like his brothers - did what they had to do. To survive in a world of both magic and cut throat they had to make it work; and the three of them were just perfectly offset enough to do so. With their differences and similarities they made a fine business savvy trio. Payton's work ethic, Hayden's charm and his own attention to detail in the finances made them a stable business and fun atmosphere.

"I was going to go to the bank today - it'll be two days before I return." Ash said. "The banking community is over the boarder in the dwarvish land; but it's time." He stopped though and smoothed his coat. Ash had a bit of a problem with neatness; it was fair to say it was more than a bit, but he managed it well and his brothers were patient enough with him. He nodded as he looked where Payton was pointing. "Thirty-five days." Ash said glancing at his brother. "Thirty-five days and they sat over there last time." He pointed to another cozy nook. "Do you still have that brew from Mistress Gast at the alchemy bar on Love Lane?"

Ash went still too when the door opened. His previously smiling face lost the smile all together and he returned to his typically stoic nature. The only evidence of annoyance was in his narrowed eyes. He nodded. And moved in the opposite direction around the counter. "Hayden." He ducked down, dropping the leather bound book he hand been holding thigh to his chest that listed, in a very neat order, their financial situation. It had not money simply Ash's notes on how business was going.

Ash came up around one side of the youngest brother and glanced over at the oldest of them. He gave Payton a swift nod. "Perhaps he'd like to go with me to the town just outside Dragon Mountain. Hayden? What do you say to dragons?" He asked with a curt sort of rushed smoothness.

"What you need is one of our lamb sandwiches. Imported straight from Second Kingdom, Peep grade even." Holding a hand by his mouth, Hayden muttered quietly to the two patrons at the table. "Just don't let everyone know then they'll all be clamoring for one. Thats why I only tell my favorite customers." He dropped his hand with a wink as he lifted up his small pad of paper, he asked, "So that'll be two cups of our peppermint tea and some Little Lamb sandwiches. Anything else?" before they had even confirmed. He knew they would, they always did.

At first he had been scared, leaving his home in the First Kingdom to come here with his brothers. But he trusted them beyond anyone else and so when they had come to him with the idea, he had taken a deep breath and said okay.

And he found he liked it here. There wasn't near the drama that there had been at home, even in a town called Kissingtown. He had suggested they open a wedding chapel but the other two had shot that idea down. They were probably jealous because they knew he would look better in the awesome robes they would have to wear to conduct the ceremonies.

This was good, too, though. And he was good at it. The couple he was with now had came in wanting some normal, run of the mill, tea and now they were about to have a plate full of expensize sandwiches and their priciest tea. Kneeling down by the man's ear, he whispered, "For an extra ten I'll come back and serenade her for you. She'll be eating out of your hand by the time you leave the restraunt." With a nod from the man, he made another note on his pad as he walked off, a smile on his face.

"Wait, I know this joke. What do you I say to dragons? Nothing! You just run! That's a good one, Ash, but not very creative." He said with a grin as he went to make his around the other boys and towards the counter. "Do we have any of the good lamb left? I kinda promised it those people." He asked, not seeing their newest customers that were taking a seat nearby.

Payton nodded absentmindedly, glancing towards Ash. It was balance that he wasn't sure would work in the first place but he was willing to try. Payton did anything to protect his younger brothers and if opening up this small, quaint get away meant safety for them, he would do it. IF it meant battling trolls, facing the Ice Queen herself, or traveling from the very top of th 8th Kingdom all the way down to the bottom of the first without nothing but the clothes on his back, then so be it. Payton would do it, no questions asked and no hesitance considered.

"I do, yeah. Somewhere--it's in a purple bottle in the back. Beside the vial of Love Potion #13--I'm afraid we're running low though. I might have to pay Mistress Gast a visit soon--maybe you could tack on an extra day and visit the woman." Payton told him before the entire thought had dropped.

The last thing Payton wanted was to disturb the comfortable, safe life they had in Kissingtown. Leaving the 1st Kingdom had been hard on all of them but they were established there, known for the elegance and warmth of their little shop, known for the romance and love embedded deeply into the walls and into the hearts of the three brothers that owned the place. But the man that had walked in threatened their entire establishment.

"I thought it was funny--absolutely knee-slapping. My side still hurts, in fact." Payton said quickly as he followed on the opposite side of Hayden, doing his best to shield him from the Jaxton and the maiden he had brought with him. His eyes, however, caught the sight of empty platters and he habitually scooped them up as he followed along side Hayden, offering both patrons a wide smile. "You should go--I heard they've got dragon bones up there and if you squint hard enough, it looks alive. And if anyone can find a breathing one that's escaped the Ice Queen's clutches, it's got to be you, Hayden. No one."

"Yeah, we do--I made sure we have some left for them." Payton said off hand, dropping the platters onto the counter and leaning against it. He caught Hayden around the shoulders and smiled softly. "Go with Ash--have fun and stare at dragons or pretend to...I mean the banking part will be boring but the bones are worth it."

Ash had been nodding, he even brightened at one point. There was another time he smiled slightly. However his face lost all expression and he wheeled around to look at Payton in mild annoyance a this last statement. "I beg your pardon. It is not boring. I like it mind you. Boring." He snorted in a disgruntled fashion. "Not boring." He said under his breath. "I assure you Hayden it will be the most entertaining thing you've done all week. Not considering that candle dinner that ending with the curtains catching on fire - we won't count that." Ash nodded. "It'll only be a couple of days. And...dragon bones?" He tipped his head off to the side. "Besides I could really use the company."

Ash looked at Payton suddenly realize he'd gone drastically overboard with the excitement talk - it was as if we were trying to entertain a 3 year old. Payton no doubt had noticed the unnatural nature of Ash's behavior. However, he hoped for a moment it slipped by Hayden as he simply quit talking all of a sudden. That likely dug Ash in a deeper hole than if he would have gone on. He sighed and moved over by Payton to better hide the view.

He glanced sideways at Payton then tipped his head to look at Hayden. He shrugged lightly and smoothed his vest again. Ash's neatness was slightly unnerving. "My hair?" He asked finally. "Is it...you know...messy?" He wrinkled his nose at Hayden. Ash's perfection stopped at his hair - and typically when he thought about it it drove him bonkers; almost off the hinges crazy. However, as he rarely saw himself except for when he was near a mirror (which was rare) he could ignore it. His hair, no matter what he did, would not tame. Nothing worked on the sloppy mess of pokey locks shooting out at odd angles. It was simply a fact of life for the middle brother; it was also a great point of fun for the other two. It also drove him slightly batty when it was mentioned. It was with that knowledge that he used it as a key point of distraction.

A small part of Jaxton knew what he was stepping into the moment he did so--but it was part he deeply buried at the prospect of the pretty little blond he had managed to snag. With her bouncy curls and the giggles she let out at his every word, he couldn't be bothered with minor details as the building he entered to woo said maiden.

He carefully pulled out her chair for her, leaning forward to kiss her cheek before he took his own seat. Jaxton had charm, he knew it---when he used it to his advantage, there was a rare occasion he didn't get what he sought after. He had loved many and many had loved him--it was simply ingrained into his personal belief, into his family's history and that of his own kingdom to be so hopelessly romantic, no matter if it was contrived or true heart running wild, cheeks flushed love.

"What would you like, my love? A fresh cup of tea or a blend of the finest fruit they have to offer--" Jaxton whispered softly, brushing the tips of his fingers across her cheek before he drew back and glanced around the room in search of someone to serve them. It was then that his eyes caught the familiarity of the three men towards the wooden bar, separated off from the rest of the patrons. Hayden's back was to him yet both Ash and Payton could see him and Jaxton leaned back in his chair, a sly sort of smile crossing his face as his watched them quietly.

It was way too good to be true--he had, long ago, hoped the three of them would hate each other. That Payton and Hayden would disown Ash entirely, creating enough animosity to drive all three of them into the ground. It had been his desire--his absolute purpose for Ash in the first place--to create such a relationship. Or lack thereof. But when they managed to get along, even more so when they revolted against him and had left to move to the 4th Kingdom, Jaxton's hope vanished along with their brotherly alliance.

He could remember hearing from a traveler that they had opened up this quaint business in Kissingtown but he didn't entirely believe it until this moment. His eyes flickered back to the maiden, curls and giggles lost as he was focused on something else entirely. "Excuse me for the briefest moment, my love. I will get our drinks personally." He told her, touching her cheek a second time before he winked and stood up, crossing the room a moment later.

Jaxton slipped his hands into the pocket of his trousers, standing a few feet behind Hayden. "I'm afraid a business such as this should be run with more punctuality than you three seem to have--tsk, tsk...a patron having to ask to be served. Have I taught you nothing?"

He wasn't going to agree to go, knowing he had business here to attend to. Hayden wasn't good at all that banking stuff anyways. He was the one that brought in the customers, that worked the room and he took that responsibility seriously. To him, it was all a challenge. A chance to take each customer and make their meal as individual as they were. True, it was partially to try and pull out as much money as he could, this was a business after all, but it was also fun and he wanted these people to enjoy themselves while there with him.

But he couldn't deny how brilliant it would be to find that lost forgotten dragon and bring his head to the Ice Queen in triumph to be rewarded with a kiss and a bag of money that he would bring back home and splurge on that well for the backyard. But as excited as he grew for a moment, he brought it down again as he frowned. "I can't. Not tomorrow, I have the Lord's engagement the day after to set up for. The man sent a list a mile long that I have to get all set up across town. Next time, though..." Hayden let a smile cross his face as he nodded his head. Next time, he was there.

"Like you just left Madame Black's brothel." Hayden teased happily as he looked between his brothers, wondering why they were acting so odd.

The answer came quickly though as he heard the voice behind him but he didn't turn around. He just stepped forward and pushed between Payton and Ash to the counter, digging out a piece of paper, writing something out on it in large letters before moving back around and standing in front of Jax. "You must have missed the sign." He told him as he raised up the piece of paper that now read, 'No wastes of human flesh, a.k.a. Jaxton Lionel, allowed.' Pushing by he walked to the front window and attahced it to it before turning back. "I don't know how you missed it. Its right in the window. Now please leave or I will be forced to call security." He told him, trying to figure out if the three of them were strong enough together to be considered security.
