Rosalind's nose curled in deep disgust at the thought of her. How long she had served this court and how they all scratched and clawed their way to try and gain those top positions, to think that it had just been given away to some common girl. She didn't care who her parents were or her grandparents were, she didn't deserve it, if only for the fact that it should have been her in the girl's place and crown. How she longed for a crown of her own, the symbol that said she truly was better, smarter, more beautiful than all the rest. And now she was seen with the newest King - the one that she pined for more than any other (though having only done so since the moment she had discovered his ascendance). Over her dead body. "I'm sure it was nothing more than pity. No more than any of us feel for her." She said bitterly as she rose from her seat, standing tall as if to prove that she was better than the new princess to the whole room. It was how she was taught to work and had been so for as long as she could remember. Never had she had to lift a finger for anything and she never planned to. That was what the help were for. Someone that wasn't afraid to get their hands dirty had no business within the ladies of the First Kingdom. Turning angrily, she asked, "Didn't I ask for some water? Stupid lazy worthless girl! I might as well do it myself." Of course, she wouldn't. "Last ball, I had a chance to dance with him and we got along quite well." She changed the subject, exaggerating truth if only slightly. "I wouldn't be surprised if he comes to court me any day now. Really the only left is for me to decide if I want rubies or emeralds in my crown when I get it." Rosalind boasted as she flipped her hair over her shoulder and looked into one of the mirrors that littered the room, imagining herself with it on. |
