"Has anyone asked for anything more?" Jasella arched an eyebrow at the king, however a second later any amount of remote or possible kindness left her and she scowled at him. She looked over to Tony, wondering how he could tolerate this...this king. But the dumb smile on the man's face after what he must have considered a compliment made Jasella suck in an annoyed breath. There was absolutely no hope. "You're wasting your flattery." She scowled darkly at the king by his obvious expression that showed he thought himself particularly clever. She did not find him clever, she did not find him cute or entertaining. "Not to mention your breath." She managed a taut thin lipped smile at him. His arrogance was hurting her head a little, as was his obvious neglect in treating her as an equal; once more putting on that stupid courtly charm that only made him look at that much more ridiculous in her mind. Men with their constant need to prove something only slowed progress. She understood that they thought they had to compensate, but she had taken the time to prove that that was simply an obstacle...and it only got progressively worse, which instigated her to be irritated all that much more. She was at a standstill and it was frustrating her more than she liked as she was left with flushed cheeks. If she yielded and accepted his offer of going first it meant she buckled; however if she stood her ground like she wanted she was wasting precious minutes. It was with that in which she found her dilemma and it was a massive one. Her pretty little lips were puckered unhappily as she made sure he saw how displeased she was by the look in her eyes; which were glued to his. She felt the aggravation rise in her chest - she could even hear it pounding in her ears as she got progressively more annoyed. Even so she was at an impass. Finally after a mild scrunching of her nose she took Belle by the arm. "Come then - if they want us to brave this new dangerous world first...then we shall." She said. "Heaven forbid their be a mud puddle on the other side that would need a coat or cloak to cover it." And with that she stepped through...but not before pointing out that they were going first into what could be dangerous; in that moment it was her only defense for her lack of desire to continue their staring contest. |
