For a moment he felt like Toric was his father, and Prosper was getting his blessing. Toric was more his alpha than Teal had ever been. He was a great leader. Prosper would do anything for him. “Yes, sir,” he said. Smiling, he motioned to Evermind and Chaska. Evermind followed him willingly out of the clearing. Foxglove nodded back to Avalon, very slightly. She glanced at the other wolves in the gathering, but they didn’t seem to have noticed the watcher even though she was sitting in plain sight. Well, Foxglove didn’t care if her old partner in crime listened in. She would make sure to catch Avalon later, though, and see what the fae planned to do with the information. Kossandra’s words brought her back to the moment. Foxglove shifted her weight, suddenly a little uneasy. Let them think she was only upset because Ichor was still Shadow Clan’s alpha. That was part of it. She was also thinking about what would happen if she made an alliance, and Shadow Clan found out sometime in the future that she’d kidnapped one of Ichor’s pups and placed him in Wind Clan. Was it really possible? A lasting alliance between the most powerful Clans? Was it worthwhile, if it was possible? Foxglove was silent for a moment, her mind working. She considered the gains and the risks. Certainly, if she said yes, there would be no good place in the Caelum for criminals to hide. All they would need to do was put out a message to the other two Clans, and the wolves there would take care of any troublemakers wanted by the others. The chance for expansion, though, would be gone, and fecund River Clan would need that someday soon. There was danger, also, if Foxglove refused and the other Clans formed the alliance anyway. River Clan was big enough to take on Shadow Clan and Wind Clan combined, if necessary, but if Willow Valley joined the trio they could, in turn, destroy River Clan. Foxglove spoke at last. “Kossandra, you tell me that my half-brother Ichor is still the alpha in Shadow Clan. I don’t have anything against Shadow Clan except a long-standing personal mistrust of Ichor. However, I accept your alliance and offer you safe passage in River Clan’s lands in return, both to Shadow Clan and Willow Valley. I’m glad to know I can have the support of almost everyone in the Caelum against any more pupnappers and rogues like the Kalardor. “Yes, Diedre, go with them with my blessing. Bring back Arisu’s pups and kill any of these so-called Fire Clanners you meet.” Her lip curled at the mention of Thunder Clan, though. “I won’t agree to the restoration of Thunder Clan to its territory. If you simply need someone to fill up the lands, River Clan is pushing its borders as it is. I could certainly put more than five or six wolves in Fire Clan, and I won’t give up that right just to restore old names and faces.” She paused, and tilted her head. “But perhaps, since all four of our Clans are making an alliance, we could declare Fire Clan open to any of our wolves. It could be a token of our alliance, all of us sharing the land among any of us who wants to live there. If we exterminate Fire Clan, of course.” |

Posted: Wed Aug 12, 2009 4:03 pm by lunarcat7 Chaska Citharius "Thank you Lady Kossandra!" Chaska's tail was wagging and she playfully nipped at Prosper, grateful to be back with her family. They were given permission to return to Windclan. She was going home! And better yet it looked like a bond was occuring between all four clans. It was ironic. Chaska had heard about Fireclan being a Shadowclan spin-off. Kiri even told her that Memoir had put someone in charge that she didn't like or trust. It seemed odd to put a potential backstabber in charge of a clan and yet...some great good had come out of it. Nothing united those with differences better than a common enemy and now it looked like Fireclan had become a common enemy of the other clans. Memoir had unwittingly set up a potential cause for uniting...something more than the Kalardor. If the clans could unite for even a little bit then maybe it would give Windclan time to resettle and for pups to grow up with at least some knowledge of peace. She pondered about volunteering to go with the others to Fireclan but she did want to go back home. She missed the smell of mountain air and the scent of home. However, if Prosper went to Fireclan she wanted to go to. |
