Ponyo, Hayao Miyazaki's new movie (He also did Kiki's Delivery Service and Spirited Away!) looks sooo cute! I wanna see it! I haven't seen it, but I watch Disney Channel enough to figure out what it's about. Spoiler: click to toggle Ponyo is voiced by Noah Cyrus (Miley's little sister) and Soske(?) is voiced by Frankie Jonas (The Jonas Brothers' little brother). It just looks so adorable, and I love Miyazaki's movies. :3 Edited by Zelda <3, Aug 14 2009, 03:26 PM.

I want to see it too! It seems so cute. And I love Miyazaki's movies. They have to be better than Pokemon even. And that's hard to beat. |

I know! I remember watching Kiki's Delivery Service when I was little, and Spirited Away never ceases to amaze me, even though I've seen it multiple times. :3 |

Absolutely love Miyazaki's movies. <3 Though I must say, I'm not too excited for Ponyo. -.-; Disney's last dubbing of a Miyazaki movie (My Neighbor Totoro (my all-time favorite <3)) wasn't really that good. At least, I didn't think so. Plus, judging on the commercials, they're using the Disney stars to their advantage. That really annoys me. But don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to totally bash this movie before I've even seen it. xP I saw the trailer and the dub actually wasn't half bad. It was good. ^^ Not sure if I'll go out and see it yet. But I approve of it for now. xD I don't mean to start a fight or anything. Just my two cents on the subject. -prepares for the angry mob- ^^; |

Ponyo's been out since last year, I believe. I've known about it for a while. You can't say it's new but in the US. But I forgive you. <3 It does look very adorable, and likeable to a complete audience. I've heard that the first hour of the movie shows the brilliance of Hayao Miyazaki's work, but the last half-hour seems to cut-off and not as complete. Regardless, this is him we're talking about. He easily beats anything like Pokémon. I mean, face it. Pokémon doesn't stand as strong as something from Miyazaki. It's just too repetitve and everything. The Disney dub does sound cute enough from the bits I heard on TV. I'll forgive there are Disney Channel younger siblings working on it for the minute. There was no other way to get those really childish voices. It just seems odd to get them involved in anything anime, to me. I mean, honestly. Disney actors in anime? Bizarre, but it isn't that much, I guess. And I did see Kiki's Delivery Service in English, too, but that didn't have people like this working on it. As far as I know. o-o And Spirited Away. -shrugs- Not judging anything yet. I haven't even watched it properly. I'm happy it seems to be getting a lot of marketing, though. I've seen commercials on both Nick and Disney Channel, so it made me happy to see that they were taking it seriously. Enough, I'll decide on watching it, but I heard it was good voice acting. It did well on opening day, too. I wanted to see it yesterday, but I kind of got mad at dad and didn't let him take me. >>; He wanted to see something with me before the school year started. Doubt he would have liked it, anyways, and there was nothing else I wanted to see. Yes, I'm taking it that seriously. ;D By the way, it's Sosuke. |

I saw it last weekend. It was definitely bright and childish. I was really weirded out by watching anime in the theater, though. Laughed quite a few times. Bunch of kids screaming and giggling with it, but that wasn't a big deal. It lacked some to me, though. I mean, all-around it was amazing in visuals - but for the actual story I was rather disappointed at the end. Major spoilers. Do not read if you haven't seen it! Spoiler: click to toggle They sounded cute enough, even though I still paid more attention to the visuals. Ponyo was cute, but I kept thinking there wasn't enough dialogue, for some reason. The music was nice - but the teachno music at the end was strange. xD Anyone got a YouTube link to it? |

I read a bit about Ponyo on wikipedia. Sounded a little sketchy to me. =/ But whatever tickles your pickle, I guess. xP And I think you mean this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHB9JebXv6s (I'm a link fairy today xD) That song made me cry. And not in a good way. They mispronounced Ponyo so many times, too. Dx I mean, it's not that hard- just say pwn-yo. xD |
