[SET] Rainskit - Hydro Pump - Hidden Power Electric - Psybeam - Signal Beam/Rain Dance Item: Life Orb Nature: Modest EVs: 196 SpA/236 Spe/20 SpD/36 HP [COMMENTS] Definitely the best way to use Surskit, though a touch outclassed by Omanyte. The basic idea is that you bring this in during the rain then hit as many things as possible. Hydro Pump is the main attack, mainly because Surskit needs the power and he doesn't learn Surf. HP Electric puts an end to Mantyke, and STAB Rain Hydro Pump hits NVE just as hard as a SE HP Grass on Chinchou. Psybeam is a weak attack, but is mainly for coverage against Croagunk, which is immune to Water and doesn't get hit very hard by HP Electric. Signal Beam is really filler, but it can be useful as secondary STAB in a couple main places. If it can't get rain support it can use Rain Dance instead of Signal Beam. [SET] Agilipass 1. Baton Pass 2. Agility 3. Hydro Pump 4. Endure/Substitute/Rain Dance Item: Focus Sash/Oran Berry/Petaya Berry Nature: Timid/Modest/Calm EVs: 196 SpA/236 Spe/20 SpD/36 HP OR 196 HP/180 SpD/116 SpA/20 Def [COMMENTS] Surskit can also BP Agility rather effectively. Agility and Baton Pass are no brainers. Hydro Pump is for powerful STAB. The last move and item are really up to the user. Endure can combo with a pinch berry to pass something other than Speed. Substitute can do the same, but also allow you to pass a Sub in order to ensure the pass. Rain Dance can also work if you're using a powerful Rain sweeper as your intended pass target. Focus Sash can help ensure the pass, though SR makes it hard to use if Surskit isn't leading. Oran Berry can provide a little more bulk, though Surskit is hard pressed to survive most attacks. Petaya Berry can combo with Endure or Substitute and provide another boost to pass. [SET] Choice 1. Hydro Pump 2. Signal Beam 3. Hidden Power Electric 4. Psybeam Item: Choice Scarf/Choice Specs Nature: Modest/Timid EVs: 196 SpA/236 Spe/20 SpD/36 HP [COMMENTS] Pretty Much the same as Rainskit, only without the rain. You can use either Specs or Scarf, though neither are that great. With Specs Timid is preferred just to go a bit faster than some things. With Scarf Modest is almost required so you can actually do a bit of damage. [OPINION] Surskit is a cute little pond skater, but sadly thats about all it is. I can do some damagein rain, but isn't nearly as strong as Omanyte. It can pass Agility, but there a better things around that can do that too. However, if you really want to use Surskit on your team then go for it, because despite being in the shadow of many other pokemon,it can still do quite a bit. [COUNTERS] Munchlax is the best counter around, its defensive stats allow it take whatever Surskit throws at it, then hit it with an OHKOing Return. Chinchou can take Surskit's hits pretty well, plus has STAB T-Bolt to strike back. Mantyke and Croah=gunk absorb his Hydro Pump, but Surskit will almost definitely carry a 4x move to hit them with. Not bad, but I'm going to clean up the grammar and how it looks a little bit. I'll also add in a stat chart for you. Once I get that done, I'll actually start looking through it. |

Back. Will see in the next week or so how much I can contribute.

psych up is useless on agility pass since it will ruin your stat boosts. signal beam should have the priority in the 4th slot of choice specs, it does more to grass types than ice beam |

Okay, a summary of changes. Rain abusers shouldn't have Choice Specs, as it tends to waste turns of the precious rain that they need, so I changed the item to Life Orb. HP Electric is the only one it should use since NVE Rain Hydro Pump has 135 BP on Chinchou anyway. Ice, while a good attacking type, takes a back seat to Signal Beam here, since Bug-Water gives pretty great coverage anyway, and very little resists Water in LC. I removed Psych Up from the Agility BP Surskit, as it REALLY is a pretty terrible option. I also reworded the set summaries a lot, though keeping your same intent. I also added a stat chart. All in all, not a bad analysis. I'll touch up the rest of it when you toss it up. |

One problem is that it only has 15 Spatk so Specs is very helpful, but ok. |

The difference is minor. Specs gives 22, Life Orb gives 20, but the fact that Rain-boosted Hydro Pump hits so bloody hard means the difference is small. Plus, you really need Life Orb to take advantage of its great type coverage. |

Surskit wants Omanyte's support movepool. But yeah fuck Surskit use Omanyte. Rain isn't a "touch outclassed"... it's absolutely raped by Omanyte in terms of asskickery. Oh wait STAB. Anyway the saving grace of Surskit is the Water / Bug typing. Resist Water / Ice / Ground / Fighting / Bug, meaning a lot of Fighting types (especially ones verprepared for Gligar) would in theory not like him much. That's the reason you'd ever use Surski for anything is resistances, so a defense buffing Specs set might be nice. Edited by Chris, Oct 26 2008, 07:14 AM.
