This thread contains lists of illegal movesets for Little Cup Pokémon. By combining these lists with the standard illegal movesets at Smogon an exhaustive list of illegal moves can be obtained for any given species. A text file containing the complete list is attached to this post. Primary Sources of LC Illegality:
This indicates that MoveA is illegal in any moveset, that MoveB is illegal in combination with MoveC, and that MoveC, MoveD, and MoveE are legal two at a time but not all at once. If you identify an error in the illegal movesets listed here please quote it in the thread with corrections rather than send a private message to the original poster. Corrections which apply beyond the scope of Little Cup should be posted at Smogon. Pokémon With No LC-specific Illegal Sets: Abra, Azurill, Beldum, Bidoof, Bonsly, Budew, Buizel, Buneary, Burmy, Caterpie, Cherubi, Chimchar, Chingling, Clamperl, Combee, Cranidos, Croagunk, Cubone, Drifloon, Feebas, Finneon, Gastly, Geodude, Gible, Glameow, Hippopotas, Kricketot, Larvitar, Magikarp, Mantyke, Mime Jr., Mudkip, Munchlax, Nincada, Piplup, Remoraid, Rhyhorn, Sandshrew, Shellos, Shieldon, Shinx, Skorupi, Slakoth, Snover, Squirtle, Starly, Stunky, Torchic, Treecko, Turtwig, Tyrogue, Wailmer, Weedle, Wurmple Remaining Little Cup Pokémon: Aipom Anorith Aron Bagon Baltoy Barboach Bellsprout Bronzor Bulbasaur Cacnea Carvanha Charmander Chikorita Chinchou Cleffa Corphish Cyndaquil Diglett Doduo Dratini Drowzee Duskull Eevee Ekans Electrike Elekid Exeggcute Gligar Goldeen Grimer Growlithe Gulpin Happiny Hoothoot Hoppip Horsea Houndour Igglybuff Kabuto Koffing Krabby Ledyba Lickitung Lileep Lotad Machop Magby Magnemite Makuhita Mankey Mareep Meditite Meowth Misdreavus Murkrow Natu Nidoran (F) Nidoran (M) Nosepass Numel Oddish Omanyte Onix Paras Phanpy Pichu Pidgey Pineco Poliwag Ponyta Poochyena Porygon Psyduck Ralts Ratatta Riolu Scyther Seedot Seel Sentret Shellder Shroomish Shuppet Skitty Slowpoke Slugma Smoochum Sneasel Snorunt Snubbull Spearow Spheal Spinarak Spoink Staryu Sunkern Surskit Swablu Swinub Taillow Tangela Teddiursa Tentacool Togepi Totodile Trapinch Venonat Voltorb Vulpix Whismur Wingull Wooper Wynaut Yanma Zigzagoon Zubat Edited by SwinubToupee, Oct 14 2008, 07:16 PM.

Beldum has no illegal movesets at all. It barely has enough moves for a set in the first place!XD Baltoy comes at level 17 so its Refresh is out of the picture.

No 3rd gen so no tutors, can't breed so egg combos are not an issue, but all Lv. up moves higher than Lv. 5 (Other than TMs) are impossible as it only breeds with ditto.
Odd the lists (Smogon and Serebii) say that it does not get Mag Rise by tutor....
All other >Lv. 5 moves are tutors of some kind. I think I did these right.. but it would be worth checking them. Only Magnemite left of the Ditto Egg group. Baltoy/Staryu/Beldum look right to me. Are you going to ask Wild Eep to help? |

I haven't asked Wild Eep but Eep and some of the other illegal moveset posters do come to this forum. We'll see if they've yet had their fill of illegal sets!Happiny's family is female-only. This forces the player to use a different species to supply Happiny's egg moves and complicates Happiny's early access to her own level up moves. Fortunately Clefable, one of Blissey's best egg move suppliers, learns Sweet Kiss as Cleffa and eliminates most of the conflicts. Delcatty does have access to both Sweet Kiss and Heal Bell but they cannot be legally obtained together and thereby bred onto Happiny. Breloom is the only useful Refresh-passing father and he only teaches Counter in addition to it so Happiny loses Refresh in combination with most of her egg moves. Here's a good one. The other species in the HumanShape egg group fail to have more than one or two of the female-only Smoochum's level up moves. Quite a few illegal sets are the result! Given the 34 illegal sets that Smoochum already has in standard play it's certainly among the most criminal baby Pokémon. Eric Edit: Sing is totally illegal (Lv. 25 move in gen 3 only, no viable males can get it), removed: ~Sing + Mean Look, ~Sing + Fake Tears, ~Sing + Meditate, ~Sing + Fake Out, ~Sing + Wish, ~Sing + Miracle Eye, added ~Sing, Eric edit 2: I was wrong, event Spinda passes on Sing. Fixed.
Access to Smeargle solves many potential problems for the Nidorans. Unfortunately Nidoran-M's potential breeding partners can't learn the "Horn" level up moves. EDIT: Nidoran-M's partners also don't learn Fury Attack! It appears that Bonsly has no additional illegal movesets in Little Cup. Bonsly's inability to breed and move-based evolution might raise suspicion but the only moves Bonsly has that aren't directly obtainable by Sudowoodo are Uproar and Fake Tears. Bonsly can learn both at level 1. The player can breed Sudowoodos to his/her liking before bothering with Bonsly at all. There would be several tricky sets to figure out if Bonsly had some exclusive level up moves at higher levels, but for now it's in the clear. Burmy, Kricketot, and Combee have no egg moves, no events, no presence in the third generation, and no problematic evolutionary methods. One might assume that the various useless bugs have no LC moveset conflicts but they ought to be double-checked as long as we're at it. Piplup, Chimchar, Shinx, Bidoof, Buizel, Buneary, Glameow, Stunky, and Hippopotas have an especially easy time achieving legal sets thanks to Smeargle. The special Aura Sphere Riolu is level 30. Smeargle is there for anything else Riolu might want. Croagunk, Skorupi, Drifloon, and Shellos have a fair few illegal sets in standard but no apparent conflicts particular to Little Cup. While checking Snover for LC compliance I discovered that the illegal sets assigned to its family in the Smogon thread were incorrect. That's another good reason to examine everything rather than make assumptions. Finneon is ok too. Mantyke no longer offers anything special to its evolved form, but the addition of a Signal Beam tutor for Mantine makes achieving a legal Mantyke for Little Cup that much easier! The Gible family's Smogon entry also needed some corrections but as far as Little Cup goes everything is fine. Munchlax is also in good shape. Edited by eric the espeon, Sep 27 2009, 07:52 PM.

All the Lv. up moves beyond lv 5, bar Magnet Rise as its a Pt tutor. Also Swinub feel free to double post or quadruple post or whatever if you want. Nice stuff so far! |

It is a bit easier to read through the illegal sets when the project is complete if there aren't a lot of Pokémon in each individual post. When you're browsing the Smogon thread you'll notice that it's nice to click on a family and have only that family pop up. With that in mind it probably is a good idea to have more double posting and fewer monster posts like the one I have above! In the end the list of illegal Little Cup sets may be small enough to be reasonably contained in one post anyway. We'll see. EDIT: Having said that, Chingling checks out. I'm looking at Turtwig next and it may need some fixes on Smogon before it's cleared here. Edited by SwinubToupee, Oct 10 2008, 09:01 PM.

4th Gen only Egg moves that it can't get from TM/MT: Baton Pass Agility Feint Night Slash Cross Poison 3rd Gen MTs that it can't get in DP: Mimic Dream Eater And Knock Off is its only DP only Lv. Up move that it can't get from TM/MT That is my first semi complicated one, did I do it right? Edit: Oh, right. 3rd Gen tutor+4th gen egg is already accounted for. Took them away. Its not a complicated one any more >_> Edited by eric the espeon, Oct 10 2008, 10:25 PM.

It's good that you've double-checked Gligar's illegal sets, though! I just finished posting corrections for Turtwig's family. It had a few more issues than I initially realized so I'm glad I took the time to scrutinize it. In this case the errors in the original thread would have banned valid Little Cup movesets. It may take some time for the corrections to be implemented but in the meantime we can count Turtwig among our checked species. Cherubi also needed a correction but it's set for Little Cup. Proofreading the Smogon list has revealed more trouble spots than I anticipated. Cranidos is set for Little Cup. Same story for Shieldon and Starly. Budew is fine all around. Mime Jr. is another potentially tricky baby Pokémon. It can't breed without evolving to Mr. Mime and it can only choose three moves to take with it since it needs to know Mimic to evolve. If it had a wealth of exclusive moves there'd be a mess trying to compile them on suitable parents. Fortunately Mr. Mime can learn everything that Mime Jr. learns after level 5 and the only egg moves that Mr. Mime must receive from its prevo are incompatible with all but one of the family's other egg moves. In the worst case scenario the player produces a Mimic/Fake Out/Healing Wish/Charm Mime Jr., evolves it, and replaces Mimic with whatever level up move is desired for Little Cup breeding. Abra has only one level up move and no special moves so it has no additional illegal sets. Caterpie, Weedle, and Wurmple have a new level up move but no third gen tutors for it to be illegal with. Magikarp is as Magikarp does. Edited by SwinubToupee, Oct 11 2008, 07:15 PM.

I made a small mistake with this family on the Smogon illegal movesets workshop and correcting it generated almost 370 new illegal sets. Plus these! |
