Tangela
Set 1: Storm-And-Run
Item: Choice Specs Nature: Modest/Timid EVs: 76 HP/196 SpA/196 Spe Comments: Tangela can hit incredibly hard with 28/30 SpA and a STAB Leaf Storm. Wring Out hits Flyings that resist the Leaf Storm, Energy Ball provides reliable STAB, and HP Fire hits Steels. Abuse its ridiculous physical bulk to come in as often as possible and fire incredibly powerful attacks. A Choice Scarf COULD be used with this set, but isn't recommended. Set 2: SubSeed
Item: Leftovers Nature: Lonely EVs: 236 HP/236 Def/36 SpD Comments: This thing is pretty mean. It subseeds like a champ, forcing lots of switches (great with SR support), and taking hits like nobody's business. After an Amnesia, it's got ridiculous 26/22/22 defenses, which provides for absolutely absurd amounts of tanking when combined with Lefties, Leech Seed, and Giga Drain. Substitute is there for the standard SubSeed combination, but it's really superfluous. Set 3: Sungela
Item: Life Orb/Hot Rock Ability: Chlorophyll Nature: Modest EVs: 76 HP/196 SpA/196 Spe Comments: Tangrowth is absurd in Sun. It hits 30 Speed, outspeeding even max Speed Scarf Abra. Its 22 Special Attack with STAB Solarbeam hits damn hard. HP Fire is for boosted damage against Grass and Ice-types. Ancientpower hits Fire-types, and also has a 10% chance to buff all your stats, which makes Tangela completely unstoppable if it procs. Life Orb is for more damage, but Hot Rock is good if you intend to use the Sunny Day for others on your team. Other Options: A Swords Dance set is marginally usable with Power Whip, but the lack of anywhere near a decent physical movepool. Endure-Flail can be used with the Swords Dance set as well. Sleep Powder can be used in the place of Sunny Day on the Sungela set if you have enough sun starters on your team. EVs: Just match the EVs with the set. Defensive sets get defensive EVs (HP, Def, SpD), and offensive sets get Special Attack and Speed. Opinion: Sunny Day Tangela has the potential to be a powerful force in Little Cup Ubers. Hidden Power Fire will stroke Scyther and Sneasel, and its high defense allows it to take an unboosted Ice Shard from Sneasel if you can come in before it gets a Swords Dance. It also outspeeds Scarfed Meditite and OHKOs it with most everything it holds. Yanma can cause trouble if it gets too many Speed Boosts in, but Ancientpower will OHKO it, and you're still faster even after one Speed Boost. Counters: Anything that hits hard with either Fire or Ice-type special attacks will make short work of Tangela. For the SubSeed set, Tentacool can come in and damage it with Liquid Ooze, take mediocre damage due to its amazing Special Defense, and ruin it with poison-type attacks. Snover counters the Chlorophyll set by coming in, resisting the Solarbeam (as well as nullifying the chargeless Solarbeam) and destroys it with Blizzard. Additionally, Psyduck's Cloud Nine ability lets it come in and make short work of Tangela. Edited by Seven Deadly Sins, Jun 25 2008, 11:44 PM.

Neither of those like taking neutral Solarbeams. Also, Wring Out is not as effective as Ancientpower because the things it's meant to hit are weak to Stealth Rock, meaning that if they switch in on Stealth Rock, it's only a BP 90 attack. |

...except that Solarbeam has a higher effective Base Power (180) on both of them, KinglerDude. |

Yeah I just realized that. The old tangela analysis used wring out and I used it as well on my teams. Alright then nevermind about that. |

I wrote the old Tangela analysis, so I should know that Wring Out is inferior to Ancientpower. |

Thats rather interesting lol. Because right here is where you clearly state to use Wring Out on the SunnyBeamer set. But I digress... http://www.smogon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1268311&postcount=203 |

Could it be mentionable that Sleep Powder is an option on the Sunny Day set? Also, Snover doesn't really counter the Sunny Day set as it's still slower (unless Scarfed) and gets smacked in the face with HP [Fire] which will obviously OHKO (unless Sashed, which is moot since it's apparently coming in on Solarbeam anyways). |

Snover gets destroyed if it does anything but come in on Solarbeam, so yeah. Also, I'll mention Sleep Powder in Other Options, as it could also be useful on the SubSeed set to sleep possible counters. |

As it is now Uber can you change it to be more in line with what it would face in Ubers? |
