This is my first LC team that i made on the first day i started playing( today) and although its not a baton passing team, I can still make use of it with two of my pokemon. I'm very new to LC so there is a huge possibility that this team will suck but you have to start somewhere, right? my team at a glance: Gastly (M) @ Focus Sash Ability: Levitate EVs: 116 HP/196 Spd/196 SAtk Hasty nature (+Spd, -Def) - Sucker Punch - Shadow Ball - Thunderbolt - Hypnosis When i started making my team the first pokemon i chose was gastly. i was very familiar with gengar from the standard metagame and felt confident with my ability to use him well. you may be wondering what sucker punch is there for and to be honest I'm not sure either. that probably sounds weird but when i put it on him i was so stoked that i was trying my own set but towards he end of the team building process i was less enthusiastic about it. It was supposed to take down pokemon like abra but once i added sash it suddenly became less important. I think I'm going to change it to HP[fight]. Bagon (M) @ Focus Sash Ability: Rock Head EVs: 236 Atk/36 Def/196 Spd Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Dragon Dance - Dragon Claw - Fire Fang - Brick Break My physical sweeper. I prefer brick break over hydropump/draco meteor because with sash i can usually get two DDs. Gligar (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Hyper Cutter EVs: 236 HP/36 Atk/236 Def Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Substitute - Earthquake - Night Slash - Baton Pass i originally had toxic over baton pass but qwert convinced me that baton pass was a better option. I'd prefer to keep sub rather than change it to agility because my extremely small "chain" already has means of gaining speed. Drifloon (M) @ Salac Berry Ability: Unburden EVs: 196 HP/196 Spd/116 SDef Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Calm Mind - Baton Pass - Substitute - Shadow Ball I replaced mime jr. with drifloon. he gets on average more CMs and thanks to unburden + salac berry i have no problem getting baton pass to the next poke. Omanyte (M) @ damp rock Ability: Swift Swim EVs: 36 Def/236 Spd/200 SAtk Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Ice Beam - Surf - Rain Dance - Hidden Power [Grass] this guy is my main sweeper. the final link the my chain. if i can get two CMs passed to him( more possible with a sub/gastly's hypnosis) the he will end up with 17 def, 24 sp. def and 20 hp. its not incredibly sturdy but it will hold of an attack or two. if i can get drifloon to get the salac berry boost then he will be at 21 speed allowing me to easily outrun any scarfers in the rain. If i know I've already taken out their scarfer then I might not even have to use rain dance and i can make a clean sweep. Magnemite @ Leftovers Ability: Magnet Pull EVs: 36 Def/236 Spd/236 SAtk Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Substitute - Thunderbolt - Hidden power[ICE] - Explosion i didn't really know what to put here, so i just brought in something to counter bronzors. I'm thinking about putting a scarf pokemon here, in case of a needed revenge kill. well, its obviously not the best team, but its won me at least a few battles. First, try and tighten up the grammar, punctuation, and spelling mistakes. It's REALLY hard to read this. Second, a couple notes. Mime Jr. gets eaten alive by Priority Moves, which heavily hampers his ability to Baton Pass much of anything. If you want to pass a Calm Mind, use Focus Sash Drifloon, which has a higher likelihood of being able to pass two CMs: Come in on a Choiced Normal/Fighting/Ground attack, CM on the switch, CM for the Sash to activate, pass with Unburden. Fake Out and Quick Attack are the most common priority moves, and Drifloon is immune to both of them. Second, Magnemite wants Magnet Rise so it can't be revenged by Diglett, and HP Ice should be replaced with Explosion, which hits absurdly hard even on crappy attack. I suggest Quiet for its nature, since it doesn't need any speed to whoop a Bronzor. It'll get two kills on average in every battle. |

sorry about the grammar, it was really late when i wrote this. i went back and fix all the mistakes. I'll try drifloon but because I'm probably going to give him salac berry i think that i will put a new item on omanyte, i just don't know what. i thought that mangemite couldn't learn magnet rise because it can only breed with ditto but I'll explosion over t-wave for now since i don't use it anyway. thanks for the rate. |

Give Drifloon Focus Sash so that it can pass Calm Minds, using Salac Berry will just end up with a dead Drifloon. |

Why is a Salac Berry on Omanyte? Drifloon will pass speed anyway, AND there's rain. I'd recommend a Life Orb for more damage and stuff... And Magnemite gets Magnet Rise through Volkner's TM |

Drifloon's Unburden doesn't pass when Baton Pass is used, just like how Chlorophyll and Swift Swim aren't passed. |

Volkners TM is charge beam ... doesnt he get Magnet Rise at level 1? you just have to relearn it with the move tutor. |

okay, i guess I'll do that too, but it means im going to have to rely greatly on rain which means i might opt for damp rock on omanyte
actually, if i do put focus sash on drifloon then it will not be able to pass any speed, and yes there is rain which is what i'm heading towards
thanks for clearing that up |

according to serebii he does not get magnet rise until level 46 and has no other way of obtaining it. so its safe to say that magnemite cannot learn magnet rise. unless serebii is wrong, it wouldn't be the first time. Edited by alive, Jun 24 2008, 09:15 PM.

yeah, it kind of make me mad when people dont even put thought into legality when making a team, especially in LC where there are so many restrictions |

Post has been logged. Hypnosis on Drifloon would be nice if you could fit it in, as it's always a good move to have. Not sure about Subpassing Gligar; Drifloon has big fastish Subs. Ice Fang for Murkrow might work on him... HP Fighting is a must on Gastly too. That's all I can think of right now. |
