Exeggcute
[SET] name: SunnyBeam move 1: Sunny Day move 2: Hidden Power [Fire]/Sleep Powder move 3: Solarbeam move 4: Explosion item: Focus Sash/Oran Berry ability: Chlorophyll nature: Timid evs: 36 HP/36 Def/196 Spe/196 SpA [SET COMMENTS] Under Sunny Day, Exeggcute hits 28 Speed, outrunning Positive-nature Scarf Gastly. Sunny Day also allows for one turn Solar Beam. When all else fails, Explode. Synthesis could be used as a healing option, as under sun, it restores 75%. Sunny Day can also be used by another Poke to give Exeggcute the same effects and free up a move slot. [SET] name: Double Status move 1: Sleep Powder move 2: Stun Spore/Toxic move 3: Leaf Storm/Psychic move 4: Explosion item: Focus Sash/Oran Berry ability: Chlorophyll nature: Bold evs: 196 HP/196 Def/36 SpA/76 SpD [SET COMMENTS] Similar to Gallade in OU, Exeggcute has access to a wide variety of status inducing moves. Paralyzation is one of the better status ailments, so it is prefered over Toxic. Leaf Storm will put out more damage over 3 turns than Energy Ball, so it is the preferable choice. [SET] name: Trick Room Supporter move 1: Sleep Powder move 2: Trick Room move 3: Leech Seed/Explosion move 4: Leaf Storm/Psychic item: Focus Sash/Oran Berry ability: Chlorophyll nature: Relaxed ivs: 0 Spe evs: 196 HP/196 Def/36 SpA/76 SpD [SET COMMENTS] With its low speed and good defenses, Exeggcute makes a good user of Trick Room. Leaf Storm and Psychic are your choice of STAB for Exeggcute to take advantage of. Explosion can be used mainly as a way to get rid of two enemies at once uder Trick Room. A fast Sleep Powder will force a switch, and Explosion will most likely KO the switch-in. [SET] name: Wish move 1: Wish move 2: Protect move 3: Explosion move 4: Energy Ball/Psychic item: Oran Berry ability: Chlorophyll nature: Relaxed ivs: 0 Spe evs: 196 HP/196 Def/36 SpA/76 SpD [SET COMMENTS] Wish can provide healing for you or the rest of your team. Otherwise, its a pretty straight forward set. If you are about to faint, Explode for huge damage. [SET] name: Choice move 1: Leaf Storm/Energy Ball move 2: Psychic move 3: Hidden Power [Fire] move 4: Explosion item: Choice Specs/Choice Scarf ability: Chlorophyll nature: Rash/Naive evs: 36 HP/40 Atk/200 Spe/200 SpA [SET COMMENTS] Obligatory choice set. Grass and Fire make a great attacking combo. It hits a majority, if not everything in LC for atleast neutral. Psychic is for secondary STAB and when all else fails, explode in their face. [OTHER OPTIONS] Swords Dance and Curse can be used as a gimmick set, but Exeggcute's physical movepool is rather shallow. Calm Mind can be used to boost special stats and it also has Reflect/Light Screen for defensive purpouses. Exeggcute can Substitute and Leech Seed, but that is generally not an effective strategy in LC. [EVS] Exeggcute has the luxury of not needing many EVs to max out, leaving other stats to enhance. HP and Defense should be maxed, but to do this, only 196 EVs are needed, freeing up 36 for Special Attack and 76 for Special Defense to raise each one point. Exeggcute is rather slow, so Speed really doesn't need anything other than the Sunny Day set. [OPINION] Exeggcute can finally take over as the best deffensive Grass-type in LC. Exeggcute can fill the same role that Tangela played before it was banned to the uber tier of LC and also have other options. [COUNTERS] Any special Fire or Ice attack basically elimnates Exeggcute from play, so Houndour can come in with little fear of Energy Ball and OHKO with Flamethrower. Gastly can normally come in and threaten with HP Ice or Sludge Bomb, and Bronzor beats Exeggcute without HP Fire. Murkrow can normally revenge kill with Sucker Punch, as well as Diglett. Most scarf users can get the jump on Exeggcute and KO. Edited by tsukikage, Jul 20 2008, 11:03 AM.

I think Focus Sash should be the primary option for more sets (all but wish I think), it does not have brilliant defence. Sunny Beam should have Hypnosis as an option over HP Fire, ans Systhasis should be moved to Set Comments or O O. "Maybe not so surprisingly, Tangela..." implys that it is surprising that Houndour counters it. Counters needs more revenge killers, specifically for the SunnyBeamer set. Things like Sucker Punch Murkrow and Diglett are good, and really fast scarfers. Explosion and a more accurate sleep move need to be mentioned in the comparison to Tangela. |

How does Hypnosis (base 70 accuracy) have a better accuracy than Sleep Powder (base 75 accuracy)? Just pointing that out. |

Mentions of Tangela need to be removed, since it is now officially banned. |

Swtich Hypnosis with Sleep Powder and bump Sunny Day straight to the top of the set, as it is Exeggcute's most potent set. Mention that you can run Sunny Day on a different Pokémon to support Exeggcute. |

For the TR set, Explosion is an option since you don't want to waste TR and explosion means you can implement your next move and also net a kill in the process, and if you've slept something and then the opponent switches you've taken out two pokemon already. |

Should Explosion be an option for the third of fourth move slot, and should I make it a third option, or take something off for it? |

Hate to break it to you, but Wish is not legal on any of these sets. The only way to get Wish Exeggcute is to hatch an egg received from the New York PC, which gives you a Lv. 5 Exeggcute. Therefore, it cannot have any moves that would be gotten through breeding, including egg moves and level-up moves. |
