For those getting started in Little Cup it can be confusing at times, this guide will try to gather the key points from various sources and help you to start playing. It will also refer back to the sources of information so that you can study further at your leisure. Where to play Little Cup is almost entirely played on ShoddyBattle, the server we use is DougJustDoug's Create-a-Pokemon server largely because there is a Little Cup ladder there, if the metaserver listing is messed up click "advanced" and use the following to connect: Host: cap.servegame.com Port: 8888 If there is no one on the LC ladder, as is often the case, simply post in the main chat asking for someone to go on the ladder. The mods will not mind so long as you don't ask every five seconds. At some times of day the CaP server is very inactive, but its does fill up. General rules Most of the rules that apply to normal, Lv. 100, play are the same in Little Cup (Species Clause, OHKO Clause, ect) so I will not go over them here, however there are some important differences. For one there is a level limit of 5, and for another any Pokemon that does not fit these criteria is not allowed. To be eligible for Little Cup play a Pokemon must: 1. Be able to evolve. 2. Be the earliest evolution stage obtainable. The fixed damage moves Sonicboom and Dragon Rage are banned as they can KO a large majority of the metagame. There is a tier list that can be found Here. UU will probably get the same treatment as lv. 100's OU once enough people play to make the usage stats reliable and is played very little if at all. Ubers is played by a very small number of people. EV Differences at Lv. 5 At Level five effort values affect stats in a different way, unlike level 100 play where each 4 EVs gives you an extra stat point for LC you need 76 EVs per stat point, however depending on what number your Base Stat ends in you can get your first point for less. This table will tell you how many EVs you need to raise a stat a certain number of points. It all depends on what digit the Base Stat ends in. If the Base Stat number ends in # then - x/y/z EVs are required required for 1/2/3/4 stat point gain: 3 - 12/92/172/252 EVs 4 - 4/84/164/244 EVs 5 - 76/156/236 EVs 6 - 68/148/228 EVs 7 - 60/140/220 EVs 8 - 52/132/212 EVs 9 - 44/124/204 EVs 0 - 36/116/196 EVs 1 - 28/108/188 EVs 2 - 20/100/180 EVs Further information: EV distribution guide. If you don't want to calculate EV spreads by hand, EvilBob made a tool which has the base stats and EVs required for points as well as a defensive EV spread maker and final stat points for each Pokemon allowed in LC. You can download it Here. LC Specific Illegal movesets There are some moves and combinations of moves that are impossible to obtain at level five, the main reasons for this are 1. Level up moves obtained after level five that cannot be known by two legitimate parents. 2. Special moves distributed at levels higher than five. 3. Combinations of exclusive third gen tutor moves and fourth gen level up moves obtained after level five. 4. Combinations of special moves and level up moves obtained after level five. SwinubToupee has written a very extensive guide to move illegality Here, or you can simply check the list of LC specific illegal moves and move combos Here. Other than that read up on whatever other guides or analysis look interesting, and you should be able to work out where out RMT forum is or what forums to post discussion topics in. If you have any questions post them in our SQ/SA topic in General Chat. |
