Hey, what's up?
![]()
|
Welcome to my first LC RMT! This is probably my 25th+ RMT in total, so yes i do enjoy making them. I have this gift, that it takes me an extremely short time to adapt to a new metagame (this one was the easiest one to adapt to as well), for example i went from Advanced UU/NU/OU, to DPPt UU(top 10 in two weeks :O). But enough of me bragging. So after two days or so of Battling, i tested alot of pokemon and came up with this strategy: Eliminate priorities and such ASAP, while forcing Water/Ice types out untill the end when i set up my sweep with the almighty Subplup. Elekid, Taillow, Croagunk and Diglett break down the opponents team, while i get my sweep ready, making sure i get Stealth Rock up to break sashes. After a while, i changed the team to fit the metagame better, adding more Priority, and more Immunites. As my experience led me to 2nd in the leaderboard...3 Points from 1st... Team Happy Feet: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ![]() Houndour (M) @ Lum Berry Ability: Flash Fire EVs: 196 Atk/76 Spd/196 SAtk/36 SDef Lonely nature (+Atk, -Def) - Taunt - Sucker Punch - Dark Pulse - Fire Blast --- Moveset: Leadour set that i came up with. Taunt shuts down SR and Hypnosis leads, Dark Pulse and Fire Blast for STAB, and breaking Sashes, while OHKOing Bronzor. And the almighty Sucker Punch for priority. EVs and Nature: EVs to maximize attack, as i have priority so not much speed is needed. A Lonely Sucker Punch OHKOs diglett, so its definately worth it. Summary: This Leadour set is awesome after i kept trying to change my team around to be more consistant. This set lures in Waters, which i can send to Croagunk, who lures in Fires and Psychics, so i can switch back and forth with Missy or Taillow taking the Earthquakes. My team HATES early game SR because of Taillow and Diglett, so its important that i dont let SR get up at all costs. Sucker Punch allows this to perform a later game revenge killing job. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ![]() Elekid (M) @ Life Orb Ability: Static EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Cross Chop - Ice Punch - Quick Attack - Thunderpunch --- Moveset: Elekid has amazing coverage with BoltBeam Punches, and Cross Chop. Quick Attack is priority, which is EXTREMELY important as i found out early on, in this tier. EVs and Nature: These EVs are fairly easy to understand. Max Speed and Damage, with a Jolly Nature to be one of the fastest and hard hitting pokemon LC pokemon. Summary: Elekid is a monster in this tier with its great offensive stats and coverage. Life Orb makes him hit harder then usual, while allowing it to change attack, or using Quick Attack as a finisher. Elekid, is one of the members that i COULD replace, as it doesnt support the team, but its a very good pokemon overall, so keeping it would be ideal :D. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ![]() Diglett (M) @ Focus Sash Ability: Arena Trap EVs: 36 HP/236 Atk/236 Spd Hasty nature (+Spd, -Def) - Earthquake - Sucker Punch - Stealth Rock - Hidden Power [Ice] --- Moveset: The only "weird" thing about this set, is that i use two fillers. Rock Slide doesnt hit much that Diglett is trapping, while HP Ice stops Gligar(I hate this PoS). Earthquake for Stab, and Sucker Punch to lock some Scarfer in to revenge kill. Stealth Rock is here, because there are many pokemon, such as Croagunk(especially him actually), who will predict my Earthquake, and try to get rid of me with a Sucker Punch of its own, as well as Stealth Rock is extremely helpful to break sashes. EVs and Nature: Standard EVs maximize Diglett's speed, and make it hit as hard as he can. Summary: Diglett is a main part of my team, and many others. Supplying me with an awesome Electric immunity, and Rock resist. Diglett's main job is to come in on a predicted switch, or Electric/Rock/whatever attack, and put that pokemon out of its misery. Its secondary job, is to put up Stealth Rock to break my opponents Sashes who may stop me later on. This works amazingly well with Taillow, because a Rock/Ghost/Electric type will likely come in on Taillow's U-turn, and i can get a free trap kill, as well as priorities like to switch in to Taillow too(expecting Protect or something). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ![]() Taillow (M) @ Toxic Orb Ability: Guts EVs: 36 HP/236 Atk/236 Spd Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Facade - Quick Attack - U-turn - Brave Bird --- Moveset: Well this is the Standard Guts Sweeper set for Taillow, but i picked Quick Attack, and U-turn instead of just one. I beleive im good enough at prediction to send Taillow in on an attack to activate Toxic Orb. Its also easy to send Taillow in to revenge kill, and then it activates on the next turn. U-turn is very important to lure out the counters, and trap them with Diglett. EVs and Nature: Standard EVs, and Jolly to be faster than some other fast pokemon. Nothing much to say here. Summary: Taillow does its job incredibly well. It supplies me with an extra Ground Immunity which is important, as MissyD is my lead and my die early on which makes Croagunk nervous. And also grants me the amazing Ghost Immunity. Taillow switches in to revenge kill something to activate the orb, or on a Ghost/Ground attack getting tossed at my team. Facade rips many teams to shreds, as well as Quick Attack helps hit the weak priority users. U-turn+Diglett is an amazing technique. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ![]() Wooper (M) @ Oran Berry Ability: Water Absorb EVs: 236 HP/156 Atk/76 Def Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Waterfall - Ice Punch - Encore --- Moveset:Well taking advantage of Wooper's physical attack stat, i use its STABs EQ and Waterfall for coverage. Ice Punch hits the odd grass pokemon, and OHKO's Gligar. EVs and Nature: Sort of weird, i gave it some attack, because after all it needs to be hitting something. So i dumped all of the EVs i could into HP, than Attack/Defense for suvivability. Summary: This was so necessary because of my terrible weaknesses to rock. This also helps with Gligar a ton. Encore doesnt let Missy and Co set up either. With an Oran berry, its pretty bulky and it has powerful STABs, so why not? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ![]() Misdreavus (M) @ Life Orb Ability: Levitate EVs: 240 Spd/240 SAtk Mild nature (+SAtk, -Def) - Shadow Ball - Hidden Power [Fighting] - Thunderbolt - Shadow Sneak --- Moveset: Standard Specs set, with Shadow Sneak for Priority EVs and Nature: EVs are for maximum damage and speed, Mild because i dont need to outspeed much due to Shadow Sneak, and gives the extra SAtk point. Summary: MissyD is wierd for me to use, as i use it on one of my best Adv UU teams, and in Advanced its comparable to usage and statwise Scyther and Gligar, while completely destroying Sneasel in those aspects. But anyway, MissyD is helping me revenge kill and sweep like most of my other pokemon. Missy Grants me 3 Immunities, and gives me a hard hitting Special Attacker. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Attack Receivers: Normal attacks--->Missy Ground attacks--->Missy, Taillow Fire Attacks--->Houndour, Wooper Water Attacks--->Wooper Ice Attacks--->Houndour, or anything Electric Attacks--->Diglett, Wooper Rock Attacks--->Wooper(!), Diglett Fighting Attacks--->Missy Steel Attacks--->Houndour, Elekid, Wooper Dark Attacks--->Houndour Dragon Attacks--->Nothing Psychic Attacks--->Houndour Flying Attacks--->Elekid :(, havent seen any of these minus Zubat. Team Building: Im keeping this short as it can get boring. I got into this after seeing Vader's Warstory, it looked fun :D. I saw Elekid really cause some trouble in that game, and Electabuzz was one of my Adv Favorites. So i used him. I looked for sweepers with good immunities next. Taillow and Croagunk immediately came to mind providing 3 immunities and many resistances. I saw i didnt have an Electric Resist, so i found Diglett, probably the MVP of the team. Diglett gave me SR as well. With my team as X/Elekid/Diglett/Taillow/Croagunk/X i looked for a fast lead with Taunt and any other immunities. Feeling stupid for taking so long to realize that Misdreavus had 3 immunities by itself and how it has Destiny Bond AND Taunt made it fit right in. In the last slot i wanted to find a powerful sweeper, with few enough counters that they could be removed. I looked for Blaze/Torrent/Overgrow pokemon. I started with Torchic, but it was too hard to set up. Dratini sort of worked, but it also died to fast. Rhyhorn did decent, but my Ground Weakness hurt. So i ended up with Piplup, and it worked fairly well. In the end, i found a pokemon with more priority, and MORE immunities. Enter Houndour, as my awesome Taunt Lead. Missy's Shadow Sneak also joins the fray, as it takes the back seat as another revenge killer/sweeper. Remedied Rock Weakness with Wooper over Croagunk. Thats my team. Rate/Hate away! I can't see any specific changes (other than recommending HP Ground) and it is a solid team, but in my battles against it it has had major problems with scarfed Pokemon, particularly my ScarfWail and ScarfCrani (but dam Hydro pump and Stone edge missing repeatedly...). Croagunk can harm most Scarfers as a revenge kill but the more bulky ones (and those with a normal resist but no fight weak) can take Fake Out+another move, Diglett helps but it can only stop one Scarfer with its sash unless Sucker Punch would 1KO. Piplup is especially vulnerable, virtually every scarfer can outspeed it and unless you set up on one of those rare attacks that can't break it sub (Wailmer Ice Beam D:) they will revenge kill it. Even though you have priority on 4/6 of your Pokemon two of them have only quite weak priority moves and none of them have much hope of switching into many scarfers, but at least you can revenge them and that's the most important thing. And the reason Piplup is not used is because no one had tried it before, that's one of the great things about LC: There are a LOT of great sets out there waiting to be found. So yea.. not much useful advice from me.. Good team though. |

Thank you for the rate. Scarf Cranidos is probably the toughest thing for my team to handle, because there is no such thing as a Rock Immunity, particularly when i lose Croagunk early, so i was going to Sacrifice Missy to it anyway, regardless of the misses :P(though it would have made the first game closer at least.). So i rely on Croagunk for this, which is why his EVs and nature are Bulky-ish. Gligar causes problems when it comes in on Croagunk too, but unless they know my team they wont try to Agility because they will fear Ice Punch, allowing diglett to revenge kill, or even Piplup to set up. Im wondering if maybe i should run Max Speed on Piplup or something. Im not sure whats more important, surviving Bullet Punches and Ice Shard while also making my sub sometimes unbreakable to certain pokemon, especially those locked into Water, Ice, Fire or Steel attacks as water is an amazing defensive type allowing me to get two Agilitys in. Or if i should run max speed 13, or 14 with Nature to beat scarfers(I dont know the average scarfer's speed). 22 is an ok number though, because it beats scarfers who are at 21 speed to outspeed the 20s. My set also takes Advantage of more EVs. So an opinion on that would be great. Maybe ill write an Analysis on Piplup in the near future :D. But i seem to be doing fine against most scarfers with my Priority Spamming :P. Thanks for the complements as well :). |

Ack. I hope the Metagame doesn't become immunity-based just because of that damn Warstory. :x You're Diglett-weak. |

Your team has far more immunities, mine is just an all out offensive team, and all offensive teams need to take advantage of as many immunities and resistances as possible. I'm not having as much success as i used to have with this team before i posted it, but thats partially because a) people arent as surprised by Piplup, and b)I'm seeing different pokemon that i have no idea how to handle. A change that may help me out could be Changing piplup to Houndour(Sucker punch/ Taunt/Flamethrower/HP Fighting or something), and putting it as my lead, while making Missy a Mixed LO sweeper set(Shadow Ball/Hidden Power Fighting/Shadow Sneak/Thunderbolt looks fun). Ill put those changes in After the Tournament :D. With those changes the team is very solid, i rarely lose with it. Edited by HeYsUp, Feb 22 2009, 10:53 PM.

Shadow Sneak on Missy is kind of dumb, tbh. Especially on a Specs set. If SR is, Rock Polish Cranidos rips through this team as well. I suppose that Croagunk helps this a little bit, but if Gunk is down you're screwed. I would suggest replacing SS with DBond on Missy or replacing Specs with Oran or something. I used an almost identical Croagunk early on in Little Cup and can say it's much less effective than Kannon's MixPlotGunk or purely Physical Gunk. Additionally, HP EVs to make it bulkier while carrying Life Orb is counter-productive, as you're still losing 2 HP/attack. Dropping its HP to 19 is the best option there. Diglett carrying SR is risky, as well. If I were a Croagunk-user, I would certainly use Vacuum Wave over Sucker Punch, as Vacuum Wave does over 50% as it is and has no risk of failing. You also have a rather acute lack of defense on this team. I would suggest putting a Munchlax>Taillow since it still hits damn hard while giving your team a bit more overall bulk. EDIT: Why did you bump this after ten days? :| Especially asking for an Archive entry? Please read the rules in the Team Archive, where it clearly says not to ask for teams to be archived. Firstly, look at Missy's item before Bashing it, lol. Second, I know i have a Cranidos weak, but i can deal with it by spamming priority, especially with Missy because no one expects it. Third, I'll test the Croagunk set, but i lose alot of Revenge killing Power, especially without Fake-Out. I cant revenge kill Missy, or other Croagunk w/o Bullet Punch. The HP EVs actually do help, i can 1v1 alot more Pokemon effectively, especially since the speed EVs wouldnt do anything. Ill definately test it though. Diglett carrying SR is risky, but i dont really have another Option and it has worked fairly well for me so far. If you have another suggestion than i'd gladly here it. I do NEED SR on this team. Munchlax loses the Punch Taillow gives, and furthermore, the Ground Immunity. I cant afford to lose that. Im pretty sure you said yourself that my Taillow was good after a Battle (maybe it was Eric..idk). The lack of defense is really un-noticed because i revenge kill everything with ease, its made up for with Immunities. A better Rock resist would be nice, but i REALLY dont want to lose Diglett. I wish Poliwag had Poliwrath's typing, then it'd be perfect over Croagunk. I bumped to say that i updated it. Would it be better if i posted a whole new RMT with the changes? Keep in mind, my thread was still at the top of the first page. Bump is an acronym for "bring up my post", and i didnt move my post. And the "cough"s were to indicate that it was a Joke. I dont expect my first team ever made to be put in the Archive lol. Sorry for the misunderstanding. (changed it so that others wont have the same misunderstanding). Edit2: What version of MixPlotGunk should i use? NP/VW/SP/X? Should X be Earthquake (Walled by SubMissy=Bad)? Payback (OHKO's Missy on the switch)? Ice Punch (Gligar is a bitch)? Even Sludge Bomb or HP Psychic? Edited by HeYsUp, Feb 23 2009, 06:31 PM.

I'd be concerned about a Diglett and Agility Gligar weak. I count 4 pokemon that Scarf Diglett traps and OHKOs with Earthquake and by extention these are outsped and OHKOed by Agility/Roost/EQ/Filler @ Life Orb. I'd swap Misdreavus for Scarf Gastly to give you extra protection against opposing Misdreavus, baring in mind the common calm mind/shadow ball/hp fighting/sub runs through this team with SR down. Or I'd go for Duskull in that slot who can patch up the Gligar weak and Shadow Sneak other Misdreavus. I'd also opt for Buizel over Croagunk, although Buizel isn't water immune, it has priority which OHKOs Diglett and does >50% to weakened Gligar. Bulk up/Aqua Jet/Return/Waterfall @ Life Orb should give you a more potent sweeper than Croagunk as well. |

I count two Pokemon Scarf Diglett Traps and kills, and it can only "Kill" one of them, because its 2HKOd by priority. Taillow/Missy arent trapped and are Immune to EQ, Houndour OHKOs with Sucker Punch, Diglett beats Scarf versions with its Sash, EQ on first turn, and Sucker Punching on second. Shadow Sneak is there to counter opposing MissyDs actually, i think it OHKOs. Gligar is quite a bit of trouble though. Ill try Buizel over Croagunk, but i really like the water immune+Rock resist. |

I didn't see Sucker Punch on Houndour but you're still relying on SR not to be down and Diglett not having taken damage for it not to be taken down by Scarflett which is a huge gamble with defensive Gligar and Bronzor around. |

Yea, i see, but do you have any solutions? (ideally that arent counter-productive (eg. losing an immunity)). So far the troubles for this team are: Scarf Cranidos-No Solid Rock resistance. (RP is easy to get rid of, as i take it to 5% with an attack as it RPs, then Priority kills it). Gligar-So versatile and unpredictable its insane. It does EVERY set it does incredibly well also. Really god damn annoying. HP Ice on Diglett, Taillow and Missy can get rid of it. But it can set up on Croagunk. Scarf Machop- this is actually pretty annoying, but its OK to deal with, because i have Fighting resists/immunes. It OHKOs alot of my pokemon though (well, all of them). Edit: Well, i said goodbye to Croagunk for something that remedies the top two weaknesses. Wooper! Im not sure what sort of Set Wooper can run, but the one im using seems to be working.
