just some quick notes:
At a glance: GASTLY - Life Orb Nature: Naïve EVs: 36 Def / 196 SPAtk / 76 SPDef / 196 Spd (504) - Shadow Ball - Hypnosis - Thunderbolt - Hidden Power ![]() [size0]my special sweeping lead and sleeper. Life Orb with 19 HP means i only receive 1 HP recoil and can use it 19 times before fainting. Shadow Ball for amazing powerful STAB. Hypnosis puts things to sleep that can otherwise cause problems. hidden power ice complements thunderbolt well for a pseudo boltbeam EVs provide max SPAtk and Spd and provide even defenses (with SPDef drop). i know that Timid would be preferred, but it wasn't available. EVs were not put into HP so he could have perfect Life Orb recoil CRANIDOS - Focus Sash Nature: Adamant EVs: 236 Atk / 36 SPAtk 212 Spd (484) - Stone Edge - Earthquake - Ice Beam - Rock Polish [size0]my physical sweeping dinosaur of awesome. Rock Polish brings him to a massive 30 Spd while still having 24 Atk Stone Edge for STAB and Earthquake complements Rock really well, plus it hits Levitators thanks to his Mold Breaker Ability. (something even i forget about sometimes <_<) Crunch was really just filler. i never used it once. i even had debated using Fire Punch for Bronzor but then i remember i can just hit him with Earthquake. i'm open to suggestions of anything useful. EVs provided provide max Atk and Spd and one extra point to HP. DRATINI - Life Orb (?) Nature: Adamant Ability: Shed Shell EVs: 28 HP / 244 Atk / 36 SPAtk / 196 Spd (504) - Outrage - Aqua Tail - Fire Blast - Dragon Dance critiques welcome on this. the plan is to DD, Aqua Tail or Fire Blast anything that resists Outrage then let loose with Outrage ELEKID - Expert Belt Nature: Mild EVs: 12 Atk / 236 SPAtk / 236 Spd (484) - Thunderbolt - Hidden Power ![]() - Fire Punch - Cross Chop / Quick Attack [size0]Thunderbolt for great justice and great STAB. HP Ice for well-rounded coverage with tbolt. Fire Punch is for Bronzor. Cross Chop for Munchlax and Quick Attack for any sashers. i never got a chance to use anything but Thunderbolt to be honest so i have no experience with anything that could have worked better Expert Belt is chosen over Life Orb due to the massive recoil, 2 HP from his maximum 20 HP. which a lower HP IV i could hit 19 and run Life Orb instead. EVs provided give max SPAtk and Spd and one extra point in Atk GLIGAR - Oran Berry Nature: Impish EVs: 236 HP / 236 Def (472) - Earthquake - Roost - Aqua Tail - Stealth Rock [size0]my great wall. he can fly over any Earthquake aimed at Elekid, Chinchou, or even a mold-breaking Cranidos quaking on Gastly. also, with a massive 26 HP and 22 Def, he can absorb just about any physical hit that isn't named Ice Punch Earthquake provides a great STAB and Aqua Tail gives decent additional coverage. Roost for extra healing (even heals more than Oran Berry!) and Stealth Rock to take care of sashers, fliers, bugs and anything else weak to Rock. EVs provided give max HP and Def CHINCHOU - Oran Berry Nature: Calm Ability: Volt Absorb EVs: 236 HP / 52 Def / 68 SPAtk / 148 SPDef (504) - Thunderbolt - Ice Beam - Surf - Thunder Wave [size0]Surfboltbeam provides amazing coverage and this guy's typing and ability provide amazing resistences completes the walling combo with Gligar, being able to sponce Ice Beams and Surfs while Gligar can dodge Earthquakes, the only thing this guy really fears. Thunder Wave cripples fast sweepers and Oran Berry provides much needed healing. Thanks to his typing, it won't be often someone uses Pluck to steal his berry. i'm considering breeding a new one with Amnesia and Aqua Ring. ditching Thunderbolt for Discharge. Ice Beam could be replaced with Signal Beam, Icy Wind or replaced altogether with one of the new egg moves. EVs provided give max HP, 1 additional point in Def and SPAtk and 2 additional points in SPDef. unfortunately mine only had a 29 Def IV so he didn't get the extra point in Def, but he still walled pretty well with great resistences, 27 HP and 15 SPDef. and there you have it. the team that won me the Little Cup Olympics. since the tournament's over and this team is being retired, i'm going to post an RMT to get some hindsight suggestions on how it could have been better from the start. my own critiques: i know that i have a lot of Electric/Ice users. this wasn't really done intentially, just how it all sort of turned out. i don't have anything weak to Electric (other than Murkrow) to bait for Chinchou there are a lot of Egg/Level up moves i wished could have been bred unto some of my pokémon that just weren't possible for me to obtain by the time the olympics started. i still have no earthly idea what to do for Cranidos' third attack. i'm honestly considering Rock Slide even with Stone Edge. i need to get some lower HP IVs on Murkrow and Elekid for pinch berry activation (is this even possible?). everything on my team is either weak or immune to earthquake. and the scales tip when the opponent brings out cranidos. i still love this team because it seems to flow together. i have several sweepers and decent tanks for backup. i'm more focused on keeping up the pace of battle instead of stalling, trapping, statusing rate away Edited by dr00, Jan 29 2009, 10:09 PM.

try Ice Beam for the OHKO on Gligar for the third attack, seeing how he's going to survive Stone Edge. Over Murkrow try an offensive scarfer such as Mankey, Carvanha or even a Meowth for strong priority since I think teams with Dragon Dancers and Rock Polishers can sweep if if your walls are weakened, Dratini in particular. also, vader notice anything new? would you recommend i stick with Jolly nature or should i change to Naive or Hasty? and i'm assuming put 36 into SPAtk and have a remainder instead of HP? EDIT: nevermind. i did calculations and there is (literally) no difference in 9 versus 10 spatk against 13 spdef/max HP gligar however there IS a huge difference from 8 and 9, so i'm putting the last EVs into SPAtk i have a really nice dratini, but until reading Vader/Eric's warstory, i wasn't sure how good she would be. thanks for the suggestion, i'll edit it in a bit when i can think of a good moveset/spread for her.
i edited that in 20 min before he posted lol ;/ Edited by dr00, Jan 29 2009, 09:37 PM.

Before I rate, what are the IVs on those (other than Chinchou)? Cos you often have to adjust the EV spreads to compensate, unless you have straight 31's. And where was the LC tourney hosted *thinks* *uses Google* Ahh I see, Here. Anyway this team.. it reminds me very much of early LC. Very much.. The Gastly lead has problems, sure against some of the "lets get a strong sweeper in fast" leads that were around in early LC it will win (not the 19 speed group though, sadly) but it fails to stop SR leads, gets 1KOd by every scarf lead and the most common Fake Out lead (Meow) has a good chance of having Bite. My advice is to give it a scarf. Also consider Explosion if you can get it. Nice breeding for HP Ice! Cranidos is fine, and a very potent sweeper (interestingly I used the same set on my first LC team, with Crunch before people though of Ice Beam.). Dratini.. yea, it will work. However you will have to be very careful about what you setup on without the safety of a Sash. Kid: I would go with LO>Expert Belt even with 2 HP recoil, that extra power is nice to have. And probably CC>QA, you don't want to be walled by Munchlax. Gligar: Maybe Stone Edge>Aqua Tail? Chin: Fine. |

if you are confident with Dratini, use Life Orb but otherwise use Sash. Draco Meteor is usually better than Aqua Tail to take out something big out of the water without set up/ locking yourself in. |

most of the appropriate stats were 31. i will check in a bit, but i did make adjustments. i do know that i couldn't remember what i did with Gastly after SPAtk/Spd and just guessed. i think i put the rest into HP. he only has 4 HP IV and has a total of 19 HP at lv. 5, which is why i chose life orb. scarf seems like a good idea. i might ditch hypnosis for that. EDIT: here are gastly's full IVs: 4 / 31 / 30 / 31 / 31 / 31 also, i was using mastadi's Gligar, who only has 30 HP, but it really wasn't a problem. for all intents and purposes, i just did 255 HP/Def really Elekid is flawless in SPAtk/Spd, only 28 Atk (i gave him 3 Proteins pretty much after i finished speed and spatk) Cranidos only has 26 HP. also, it only has 17 SPAtk, so i need 92 for the next point (and it only has 7 right now) ;/ and his speed is only 14, so i must have goofed somewhere. and for reference, my Dratini has 20 / 31 / 31 / 31 / 31 / 31 IVs and yes, that's actually the tournament i won using this team lol. (it says opecadom for the semifinals, but he hacked his pokemon with 252 EVs in each stat, which i found out during our match) .....anyways. i had considered fire punch on cranidos until i realized it was pretty much only for bronzor, and earthquake hits him anyway. then i considered thunderpunch. there was an instance i had to kill murkrow (or i would die that turn) and was praying stone edge wouldn't miss lol i think ice beam is definitely a suitable alternative, so i will try that. what do i have to be careful of with dratini? whether or not he'll be fast enough you mean? i ran both elekids. i did run into a few munchlax, but never when he was out, so i never got to use cross chop, but i DID have my cross chop elekid in one match go up against a priority sasher and really wished i had picked the other one lol thanks for the input guys @Dixie - Aqua Tail was chosen so that it could hit Steel-types and hit for SE against Rock/Steels and some of the more powerful physical walls Onix and Gligar. what would Draco Meteor do instead? honest question, i'm just explaning my thinking behind Aqua Tail and would like to hear your thinking behind Draco Meteor, because i considered it as well, but my main priority was to get past opposing steels Edited by dr00, Jan 30 2009, 07:58 PM.

Well ideally Draco Meteor is your initial attack, which OHKOs Onix outside of Sandstorm with 196 SpA EVs and Life Orb and deals 84.62% - 103.85% on the switch to Max HP Gligar. You do get walled more easily by Shieldon by it's sometimes better to be able to hit stuff like Gligar stupidly hard with no set up and kill things like Chinchou without locking yourself into Outrage, although now there's no Murkrow to Sucker Punch, this is less significant. |
