IT IS TIME FOR VADER'S VIOLENT POLIWAG PAGE
OK HERE WE GO.
As you dummies probably know, I love Poliwag. I rode to the top of the leaderboard on its back. Twice. This entry is a chronicling of My Greatness, as well as a record of Poliwag's INCREDIBLE...ness....

Before I go into details on why Poliwag is good, let's look at what it does. Its perks are:
- 19 Speed
- Water immunity
- not weak to any priority
- Unresisted coverage
- Belly Drum
- Hypnosis
Its weaknesses?
- Beaten by Elekid, Voltorb and Diglett, as well as Sucker Punchers
- Shares weaknesses with some of the best Pokemon in Little Cup
- Hypnosis is unreliable
- Predictable
My Set, straight from the Avenger's RMT:
- The Best Set in All of History
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 36 HP/36 Atk/116 Def/196 Spd/116 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Belly Drum
- Waterfall
- Frustration
- Hypnosis
As you may or may not be able to tell, this set is incredible. I know, I know, it doesn't work anymore, or at least not how it used to. But way back when, in the right hands (mine) it could do from 5-1 to 1-0. It was, in a word, INCREDIBLE. Hence the nickname The Incredible Hulk. It had the proper team support it needed to shine and absolutely crush the opposition in the old LC Meta, before the Platinum nonsense and Murkrow ban.
Now, Poliwag is still viable, believe it or not. It took a huge hit with everything else getting Platinum upgrades and the 10% accuracy drop in Hypnosis, but it is still playable. Hell, it's more than playable, it's good. With the proper support, Poliwag sweeps are just as devastating as ever. What do you need to pull one off? +2 Speed, Stealth Rock and a Sub. Dual Screens doesn't hurt, either.
Gligar
Bronzor
Poliwag
These three form the basis for a Poliwag team. Bronzor sets up SR and DS. Gligar gets +2 Speed and a Sub under DS and passes to Poliwag. Wag BDs and sweeps, using Hypnosis on any pesky Sucker Puncher. The other three should be fast, strong attackers and Priority-users. Croagunk, Elekid, Misdreavus, Houndour, Shuppet, Anorith, Meowth and a multitude of others can fill in these roles nicely.

Of course, here we will be discussing My Greatness. This is, Lord Vader's Little VcontributionsToTheMetagame
What have I done for the metagame? I invented Elekid. No big deal or anything. Here is how I went about inventing Elekid:
It was July of last year. I remember it as if it were five years ago. I had just been thoroughly beaten by a host of players, including Cooper, tentaintcool, eric, Magmortified, kd, eric, Dixie, Kannon, squirtleboy12 and of course eric. I needed something to kick the phlegm out of Gligar so my Poliwag didn't suffer and Munchlax so Shuppet didn't get the poop kicked out of it, but what? What could possibly get the job done? It needed to be fast, strong, and capable. It needed to be able to cut a swath of terror across the young metagame, a powerful Pokemon to strike down the likes of Murkrow, Gligar, Elekid, Gastly and Misdreavus, a champion herald to my great and powerful endgame Poliwag. I looked through the speed tiers when it hit me: Elekid hits 20 speed.
Holy.Lord.
20 speed. I pulled up the movepool. It was too good to be true. Ice Punch beat Gligar, Cross Chop beat Munchlax, Thunderpunch beat everything else. What would I use for the fourth move? Dixie had touted a SubPuncher@Liechi, but that didn't appeal to me. I looked for Priority. It got Quick Attack. What did that beat, you ask? Everything. It hit Diglett for 52%, it beat Murkrow's Sucker Punch for God's sake! I slapped it on my team, Jolly with LO since it hit that magic 19 HP. Oh, the exhilaration as it easily swept through sb12's ill-prepared team and crushed eric's Murkrow and Munchlax! I had won using a Pokemon that I had created myself.

This worked for a long time. Murkrow was banned, making Quick Attack not nearly as incredible as it once had been, but Elekid remained a major contender. Until, that is, a stupid upstart named HeYsUp broke Misdreavus. With the addition of Shadow Sneak to its standards list, Elekid could no longer easily defeat it. Worse yet, some punkid named ulric the umbreon decided to pack Scarf Gligar and Gastly and run minimal Def on Munchlax. Yeah, so much for Elekid beating those three.
