Poocheyna @ Quick Feet
Poocheyna sucks, and always will suck. It's a bad Houndour with only two credible selling points over Houndour; Quick Feet and the lack of Fire typing, giving it a niche as a pure Dark-type. Although I'll get around to posting that Poocheyna analysis I'm recorded for soon, I'd like to give a "sneak peak" at what is probably going to be set #1 on the analysis, and, in addition, open it up to criticism/suggestion/improvements. And don't forget praise! (note: set comments aren't written in analysis prose and are subject to change if this set makes it through to the analysis unhindered)
Poocheyna @ Toxic Orb
- Crunch
- Sucker Punch
- Facade
- Protect / Fire Fang / Rock Smash
nature: Jollly
evs: 236 Atk / 36 SpD / 236 Spe
A moveset where sacrifices had to made and expections had to be lower than usual. Poocheyna struggles to differentiate itself from its superior, Houndour, by using its Quick Feet ability, Facade (which is only viable due to Quick Feet/Toxic Orb), and on par Attack. Although using two moves of the same type on the same set is often foolish/inefficient, with Poocheyna, you don't have much of a choice; and, to be fair, both moves have different uses. Crunch is Poocheyna's all purpose STAB attack that can pull off some decent damage off of Poocheyna's unassuming 15 Attack. Sucker Punch is Poocheyna's ace; it is a very good move on Poocheyna, as it hits as hard as Crunch and melds perfectly with a metagame where priority is king.
Facade may seem like an odd choice to complement Poocheyna's Dark type attacks, due to leaving it completely walled by Steel types, but possesses more merit than one might derive at first glance. Boosted by status, Facade reaches an impressive 140 power, making it more powerful than a 2x super effective elemental fang; given that Poocheyna has access to the whole lot of them, they would've probably been next in line for a slot here. The last slot is up to preference; Protect allows for the frail Poocheyna (who probably isn't scaring all too much out) to get its Quick Feet going guarenteed, whereas Fire Fang and Rock Smash provide two different takes on dealing with Steel-types. Fire Fang is the more powerful option, but is really only useful against Magnemite, since Crunch is only slightly weaker against Bronzor (by 10) and is fully accurate. Rock Smash, though laughably weak, still 2HKOs Aron and Shieldon, who both otherwise would wall Poocheyna with excrutiating proficiency.
Well, what do you think?

well if you don't like the 500 limit you could just make your next entry like "Poocheyna @ Quick Feet Continued" =P

GK, that's just the profile bit.... Blog entrys can be way longer.
Now, I would personally use Ice Fang on this long before Rock Smash. Rock/Steels are very rare, and Gligar is everywhere+totally walls you otherwise. FF.. how much does it hurt Bronzor? how about Magnemite? if its not much then that seems like a pretty meh option too.
Kinda interesting Pokemon. Doubt it will see much OU use, but maybe a little... -

I'd use FF over Crunch.
Think about it; a Facade has 140 BP, while a neutral Crunch does 120 BP. Sucker Punch has priority, is thus more useful, but Crunch is basically outclassed by Facade. Fire Fang allows you to hit Bronzor too. -

Thanks guys for the input. Ice Fang for Gligar makes sense, Gligar is #1 after all. Crunch doesn't seem needed when you put it that way HeYsUp; come to think of it, its just a bad Facade.

This is obviously pretty dead but you're my favorite user bahohns so I'll be performing acts of necrophilia for you.
Unfortunately Protect is mandatory as you're never going to force anything out with Poochyena, but Crunch isnt necessarily a shitty Facade because of the Dark typing, allowing it to hit Misdreavus and co who may as well just set up on you without Crunch (At the very least it'd devolve into a Sucker Punch / Elemental Fang mindgame and those are always fun, especially with how common repeat battles are in LC). If anything I'd slash the fangs on Sucker Punch, as while priority is nice you still die to most priority users anyways (its not like you OHKO anything that can kill you with priority using Sucker Punch and it can be argued that they could be weakened for a lategame Poochyena sweep but I'd argue back that they may as well be dead at that point!). Also, the prediction mindgame is tilted slightly in your opponents favor with Sucker Punch as you will slowly die to Poison damage, putting you on a timer which is never good... but that's a prediction argument and is pretty circular so whatever. - Add new comment:
