Welcome to Ortangle!

Ortangle is a world where everything is a struggle. Struggle to survive, struggle to fight and struggle to live. Ortangle is a world where the only morality is the sword and the King's Law. The aristocracy do nothing to stop the King's reign. In fact they benefit from it.

Ortangle is a world where raw energy can be manipulated as well as matter itself through the use of Magic. The magical people are talented at all sorts of things. But they mainly use their magic just to survive in this world. The Trinity are oppressing the people at every turn using their massive army of subordinates and monsters. But the people have a weapon more frightful and powerful than anything the Trinity could ever understand: Hope.

The people of Ortangle are no longer running scared from Arch-Fiend Korya. The west is stirring once more and the oppressors will have their just desserts. Or will they? They have an army on their side and their own brand of evil magic. Their generals are horrific to behold and their skills in battle are known to be vicious. The trinity have their own private trinities and will use them to crush the free peoples of Ortangle if they have their way. The time has come for war. Whether you be good or evil, it's time to take up arms and fight the evil oppressors. But after all is said and done, could there be a more horrific threat hiding within the darkness?

Magic in the house is quite simple to understand. Words have Power in the House, using them guarantees that your magic will be a success. However, only those trained in magic know how to use it. These people are the Denizens of the Upper House and are trained by Superior Saturday and her minions so if your character's never been there then they're unlikely to know anything but the basic magic.

Magicians use something called 'Activated Ink' or an umbrella in the case of the Upper House. Only Superior Denizens can use magic without either. They include the following Denizens:

Mister Monday-
Using his Clock-hand Sword he can accomplish most forms of magic within the House. He is master of the Lower House and the Deep Coal Cellar. The Clock Hand Sword is the first Key and is activated by clear instructions from Mister Monday only.

Grim Tuesday-
Grim Tuesday's Key takes the form of a pair of Gauntlets that he uses to shape Nothing into all sorts of things. He is unable to make anything original however. The power of the Key are activated by his voice alone.

Drowned Wednesday-
She uses a Key in the form of a Trident thrust through her belt. Being a Whale however, she lacks the fingers to control the thing. She can change into a Denizen but for some reason prefers her gigantic Whale form. She has little control over her Key because of this.

Sir Thursday-
See a pattern emerging? Well, he uses a Key also. But it is in the form of a Sword or Baton. The Key is activated by voice commands or Sir Thursday generally swinging the thing in a rage.

Lady Friday-
The Key is activated by her voice and takes the form of a mirror. Her Key as well as the other six can be activated by will also.

Superior Saturday-
Her Key takes the form of a simple pen which she uses to write spells into the air. Her spells are activated by writing and are considerably more powerful than other methods of controlling the Keys.

Lord Sunday-
His Power is absolute with his Key. Nobody knows what his Key takes the form of because nobody has actually seen it yet. But Lord Sunday may soon reveal himself to the House...

Dawns, Noons and Dusks of the Morrow Days-
The underlings of the Trustees can summon swords to their sides in a flash. Their spells must be written down and torn from their notebooks to work. The underlings require the permission of their masters to use magic freely in the Secondary Realms.

Regular Denizens
Regular Denizens cannot use magic that much. They can only use the regular things given to them as standard. They can't use activated ink well because they don't know what to write. They can however heal swiftly, even from having their heads cut off. A stab through the heart with a Nothing-laced blade will kill them.

Upper House Sorcerers-
The Upper house has thousands of trained Sorcerers at their command. They take regular Denizens from the other parts of the House and turn them into fully-fledged magicians. When they complete their thousand-years service they are free to go to another part of the House.

When this happens, they spend the rest of their existence in the service of one of the Morrow Days. If they perform well then they may become a Dawn, Noon or Dusk.
