I seriously think it's wrong for women to have an abortion because of a few things: 1) It's plain out murder. It doesn't give the unborn child a chance to even be born, let alone a chance at a real, healthy life. 2) It's a way of averting responsibility that's very harmful not only to the unborn child, but also to the mother's psyche. To be honest, it's an irresponsible thing to do once you find out you're pregnant. The more responsible thing to do would be to keep the baby, and if you find yourself unfit to take care of the child, put him/her up for adoption. And if you didn't want to get pregnant, you should have taken birth control or demand a thorough check on protection. |

If said girl is responsible enough to give birth to a child and raise said child, then that is a girl who should be able to not get pregnant against her will. I understand that even protection is not 100% fail safe, but still it's a very small number. |

I'm talking about the girl who decided to have sex with a guy, but isn't careful about checking the quality of the protection, or taken birth control herself. If she gets pregnant accidentally, it's like 'Oops, I'm pregnant.' She will have to decide where to go from there, and she has two viable options. A) If she feels like she can handle the responsibilities of taking care of her child, she can opt to keep her child and raise it like she was meant to do, or B ) If she doesn't feel like she can handle the responsibilities of taking care of her child, she can put her child up for adoption so that a couple who is ready, willing, and able to handle the responsibilities of taking care of the child can adopt it. In this case, abortion is not a viable option, because not only is she taking away a life that doesn't deserve to be thrown away like that, she's also destroying her own mental psyche. I know if I'd gotten pregnant and decided to have an abortion, I'd feel guilty as hell about it for many years to come. |

What about drug addicted parents having children? I've heard of children having holes in their heart, deformed lungs, and worse. Would living an expensive and a possible incurable painful life be worth living just because abortion is illegal/looked down upon? |

That's something I never thought about. Children who are born from women addicted to drugs do live very challenging lives--not only physically, but mentally too. Not only do they have deformities in their other organs, they can also suffer brain damage. If the mother has done enough drugs that the child wouldn't be able to live a healthy, normal life (in other words, be a vegetable), then maybe I could see the abortion. But if the child's life can be salvaged, I say put the child up for adoption. This way the child has loving parents who are willing to go to any length to help the child live a better life. |

I agree. If life weren't as situational and chaotic, even just a little less than it is now, we would not have as many unfortunate situations. I know a few people who have experienced parents with substance abuse. They're usually great people, and if they're not great, then very hard working lol. |
