I'm wondering if anyone has ever been to a national/international race like Formula 1, Le Mans, ALMS, NASCAR, etc.

I've never been to a big race, but I will be going to Petit Le Mans this year. :D

No, they don't have races around here.

My second cousins live on a farm not far from Road America, they swear when you climb atop their silo (that's the big blue shipping tube you store cattle feed in) you can see the races with binoculars.

I've been to a couple CART (not ChampCar) races, a couple ALMS races, a (then) Winston Cup race, some World of Outlaws races, Trans-Am, and some more I can't remember. And I KNOW iNSTIG80R can beat me without trying.

Was if full of rednecks going "Why the hell are they turning right? Is this that Indycar thing? Where's Danica Patrick?"

Actually, Infineon has probably the least redneck crowd in all of NASCAR. Try camping in the infield of Darlington... now that is where you're gonna find some rednecks. Scary stuff there.

If it was in winter I would go, but I can't pay that kind of money to go south in July. In January I would make it part of a longer trip.

Been there in July, and all I can say is by far the best weather in North America that time of year.

Indeed. Especially if you like 79F and a slight coastal breeze. And a coastline being a 15 minute drive from the track.

Don't let the dead grass fool you--the weather there's amazing.
