ouch, that's tough. I hate SUVs, but I can understand the economics... probably drive just to have something to drive on a road trip when I need something to camp in that doesn't involve canvas or 12 mpg.

Sell.

Too top heavy for my daily drive. It would either add a few minutes to my commute, or kill me trying to get to work on time when I inevitably roll the damn thing over.

Stig, your SUV hate is smelling a lot like troll.

Suggesting that you could outrun that thing in an old Neon is so flat-out stupid it's comical.

Oh, a 4000lb Hybrid is supposed to outrun a decent compact? Through hills like his normal commute?

Your blind love of SUVs is starting to smell of a troll.

I never thought I'd hear anyone call a Neon a decent compact. I'm nearly speechless.

Hmm, maybe it could be because I drive a small car, and most SUVs around here are driven by inattentive soccer moms, so I see them as a serious threat to my safety in that respect.

Having driven my ex-girlfriends, I know first hand the uneasy feeling when you try to "make the light" while attempting a left turn. So I would have to slow my corner speeds considerably.

And my commute is basically 35 miles of farm and forest, with a few valleys separated by twisty hills. My quickest time ever was in a 510, at 28 minutes. My best time in the NEON is in the 30 minute range. The fastest my 1978 GMC w/455 c.i. was over 35 minutes. If you think a Hybrid powered SUV is going to outrun a pickup w/ a 455, not gonna happen.

You seem to forget my Neon is a two door, on 205/55/15 Kumho XSTs, with the ACR suspension under it and has the DOHC Bishi and a five speed stick. It's not the average tweaker druggie Neon you may be confusing it with.

Stig, if you think a modern SUV can even be compared to a '78 GMC, you're so far lost you might as well compare it to a '50s Peterbilt. They have absolutely nothing in common, up to and including their size and weight.

I see plenty of them upside down locally to convince me that I'd kill myself in one. There is no way that you can have a high ground clearance in a heavy vehicle and handle the corners that I take regularly. Take a wild guess at what I usually end up getting stuck behind on the twisty bits... and some upscale modern ones at that, lots of BMW, Benz and Lexus SUVs on their way to the wineries.
