The Basics
The galaxy's a big place, and a market spanning ten star systems and billions of consumers is seemingly bigger still. Without further ado, here's a brief introduction to the economy of the Republic:

Most of the Republic economy is concentrated in space-based activity, ship-and-stationbuilding, mining, processing, electronics production, and power generation kings among them. While plenty of jobs are available planetside, traditional jobs such as light manufacturing and farming are heavily automated and will not be as you know them today.

Most goods need to be bought, like ships, cars, housing, etc. However, there are some exceptions to this rule. Your character's lucky sidearm or favorite beer brand won't need to be routed through the buy order system. This is largely for big items only - weapons, vehicles, land, structures, etc. I will judge, if needed, on a case-by-case basis what is suitable to be purchased 'ingame' as opposed to on the forum.

The Republic currency is the Republic credit, with the symbol &. It is written thusly, using the number three hundred thousand as an example: &300,000.00. The ampersand (also an &, meaning 'and') is still used in Republic terminology, with the credit understood to only be preceding numbers and the ampersand between words. The credit is Federally backed, instead of relying on any precious metal for currency backing.

Buying and Selling
Okay. Now that you know what a credit is, you'll learn how to blissfully waste (or smartly save!) them. Except for small purchases (for example, your character buying a beer and cigarettes in a local bar is a small purchase while a car, a ship, or a gun is a large purchase), the Economic Activity board is used for buying and selling. Here's how it works:

1) A person (let's say a Mr. Roy Anderson) puts in an order for something (let's say a Model 750 Electric Car).
2) A seller from a nearby dealership informs him that they have that item in stock, and the price he would pay.
3) Mr. Anderson accepts the offer at &52,000, buying the car. The seller will later send him a reciept of the purchase via PM.

Selling things is not much different. If you've got a product, good, material, or anything else you want to sell immediately, you can also put in a sell order. It's exactly the same as a buy order, except you use the sell order template and fill out what you want to sell instead.

This process is easy, and should take very little time. Keep in mind that when buying or selling things you'll have to add or subtract the amount from your actual money count.

Job Offers
Alrighty, now you know how to spend your money. Let's take a look at how to earn some. Jobs, from the quick and easy cargo runs of a trader to big and stable ones like permanent posts at corporations are usually given through job offers. If a job you desire is not on the forum, message an administrator and they will find a company or group willing to hire you for your wanted task. (Some under the table jobs, though, like piracy and organized crime, are probably best offered and taken in the Commerce roleplay forum.) Job offers, like buy orders, are also on the Economic Activity board. Here's how it works:

1) A person or organization (in this case, Desumo Electronics) posts a job offer, describes what the job is, who's wanted for it, and what is paid for it.
2) An applicant (that same Mr. Roy Anderson again) posts his application for the job, and since this job requires credentials supplies his own.
3) The poster considers the applicant(s) and either rejects or accepts them. In this case, Mr. Anderson is accepted, and he can move on to his new job at once.
