Ever spotted, met or talked to a celebrity in person? Not necessarily shaken their hands or taken selfie with them. I saw Ariel Ureta dining at the same restaurant that we were having lunch in. He was with his family (daughter, wife). Mr Celebrity was very aloof :ngisi: Won't look at anyone else. The restaurant is our favorite place to eat at in Greenhills Mall. Sunbeam ata yung name nung Chinese eatery. At the same mall and not too far from that restaurant is another Chinese place (near the chapel) where I met ex-Chief Justice Corona who was with his wife & I think, his young son. I didn't even recognize him when they sat next to our table until I heard his raspy voice. He lost weight. I shook his hand & we talked a little bit - political, of course. That place is not exactly ritzy. Is this the man who they accused of hiding millions of pesos or dollars? If I remember right they only ordered 2 dishes, and one of them was Adidas (chicken feet). That's dinner? I think that's all he ate. Hard for me to believe he has all that hidden wealth when they dined so frugally. I also know where his house is (near Ateneo). It is a pretty old & drab place if you ask me, not exactly a mansion. May he rest in peace. By the way, I went to his interment (in Heritage Memorial Park ata yun). His daughter was there. The funeral parlor was overflowing with white flowers. There were so many flowers/wreaths that the management had to put some of them in the lobby and corridors. I saw a number of basketball players even as far away as Tagaytay (in Taal Vista Hotel). I saw Alapag eating at a McDonald's on C5. I also saw Pingris & Gloria Diaz in Aura Mall. Gloria Diaz is not aging gracefully, sad to say. What happened to her? Before leaving for the US, we saw former Cong. Mitos Magsaysay shopping at HMR store on Pioneer St. I almost talked to her about another Magsaysay who was my best friend in college. We saw Sen. Pangilinan shopping with his kids at Metro in ATC (Alabang Town Center). I saw Cong. Roilo Golez of Paranaque a number of times in a church along Aguirre St. I no longer go to that church. I saw Ogie Diaz, the gay host of a DZMM TV show one weekend, campaigning in some part of QC. We were there visiting some relatives. He was in a truck & using the megaphone with his usual gay accent I've seen Mr. T (from the TV show "A Team") a few times in his vintage car. He buys expensive Cuban cigars in a cigar shop just across where I moonlight on weekends. We saw Lourd de Veyra, the TV host, with a woman at Magnolia Robinson's Mall in QC a few months ago. I met and talked to the black actor who makes sound effects in the movie series "Police Academy" (forgot his name). I saw him in an improv comedy bar doing a performance. A nice dude actually. Not a snob at all. Very friendly to us. We saw Comelec Commissioner James Jimenez in the parking lot of Rose & Grace Restaurant in Santa Rosa, Laguna Jan 1 or 2 ata yun. Everyone in our party pretty much thought he looked like a goon. :bg: Met Yayo Aguila, the actress married to William Martinez (now divorced), at a relative's home. She is a friend of my relative. Saw Jim Harbaugh & Mike Tomczak in a mall signing autographs. Both were former QB (quarterbacks) of the football team, the BEARS. Posted Image Posted Image Jim Harbaugh (when he was young)...Now he is a coach of a football team. |

I've seen Chess Grandmaster Eugene Torre in an exhibition match with one of the Russian grandmasters in a hotel in Legaspi City, Albay. Met John Cusack at his penthouse home in Chicago. Met Kevin Matthews, a local Chicago radio personality, at a Chicago downtown bowling alley, where him, his radio crew and his radio fans were having a bowling tournament & party. Met Halle Berry & her football quarterback boyfriend at the same bowling alley. Also, in the same bowling alley, I met Gene Siskel, the film critic of the Chicago Tribune (newspaper). I also saw at a downtown Greyhound bus station his partner in a TV show where they talk about their movie reviews, Roger Ebert, who is also a movie critic for the Chicago Sun-Times. Both men are famous all over Chicago & the U.S. due to their movie reviews that are published in many newspapers all over the U.S. Pahabol lang: Saw Aljur Abrenica with a male friend in the new section of the UP Town Center Ayala Mall.
