Harry Koch (pronounced "coke") worked as a printer’s apprentice at print shops in The Hague and in Germany before coming to the U.S. in 1888. He had a son after immigrating and named him Fred. Fred went to Rice Institute in Houston, and then to The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he graduated in 1922 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. After legal hassles with copyright infringements over crude oil refining practices, he returned to Europe, specifically Germany and the Soviet Union, with side business stays in the Middle East. He amassed a fortune from dealings with Nazis and Stalinists. He returned to the USA in the 1940's and became one of the original members of the John Birch Society, a right wing extremist group that vehemently opposed the Civil Rights Movement, environmental regulations, and government assistance and intervention of almost any kind. Fred was a very vocal supporter and admirer of Mussolini in Italy and he poured the cash he made from the selling of oil to the Nazis to any group who opposed civil rights legislation, by whatever tactics, in the USA. Fred had four sons, who disagreed on many things after his death, none of the things political. Ultimately, two of the brood were left standing and in control of the Koch Empire – Charles and David. 'Follow the Money'... David and Charles co-own Koch Industries, the second largest privately owned company in the USA. David was also the vice-presidential candidate of the Libertarian Party in 1980 on a 'ticket' with Ed Clark. Clark–Koch promised to abolish Social Security, the Federal Reserve Board, minimum wage laws, all corporate taxes, all price supports and subsidies for agriculture, and virtually all Federal Agencies including the CIA, FBI, Securities and Exchange Commission, OSHA, Department of Education, HUD and more. Again this was his platform in 1980, long before any fiscal woes or fear agendas since 2008. In 1984, Koch officially became a Republican and founded, served as Chairman of the Board, and donated millions to 'Citizens for a Sound Economy'. In 2004, Citizens for a Sound Economy hatched into 'Americans for Posterity' and 'Freedom Works'. Koch continues today as Chairman of the Board and gives money by the truck load to the Americans for Prosperity Foundation and it's advocacy organization, Americans for Prosperity. If you think the Tea Party movement is “a grassroots organization” of regular Joes and Janes, think again. 'Americans for Prosperity' IS the Tea Party Movement. Don't drink the Tea or the Kool-Aid... Make no mistake, it is the doctrine and the wallet of the Koch Family spanning three generations, with David's agenda from 1980 hoping to be realized by shamefully capitalizing on peoples' financial fears, under the banner of 'emergency cost cutting' and the preposterous notion that loopholes and pandering to the super rich creates jobs. If you look at the posters at tea party rallies, and the right wing’s code words (urban, un-American, different, elitist...) it all sounds scarily familiar...Jews, African Americans, Hispanics, women, the poor, the 'old and useless' seniors, the LGBT community, liberals, unions, pacifists, Democrats...are not REAL Americans. Familiar because it is all so consistent with Father Fred's fascist ties, with every right wing extremist agenda for the last 100 years, and with David's enthusiasm to rain money on anyone breathing who is willing to wear a “Nobama” button. 'Shine a Light'... As if the 2008 Wall Street Financial Coup d' Etat wasn't enough for David and other members of the super rich Republican base, the agenda of these creeps, many of whom have been pissed off since the 'New Deal' of FDR, is being forced down the throat of a public already afraid of losing jobs and homes and security, under the disguise of economic or deficit addressing need. Jean Mayer in the New Yorker quotes a Republican campaign consultant who has done research on behalf of Charles and David Koch as saying of the family’s political activities: "To call these guys under the radar is an understatement. They are underground!" More transparent are the very same people elected who now are set to attack the social security of the elderly, minimum wage and help programs with successful track records for the working poor, the middle class housing crisis, children's education - and God help us even Sesame Street - are the same people responsible for the biggest single increase to the deficit in 2011 – the extension of the Tax Cut Bonanza for the richest 2%. Social Security, for one example, does not add one penny to the deficit. In fact, eliminating this critical source for Seniors would actually add to the problems, unless we are to be happy seeing our parents and grandparents homeless and hungry. Don't let the Republican hardon for FDR screw you, or sway you with distortions, half-truths, fear tactics or redirection. A year ago President Obama criticized Americans for Prosperity, saying: "Right now all around this country there are groups with harmless-sounding names like Americans for Prosperity, who are running millions of dollars of ads against Democratic candidates all across the country. And they don't have to say who exactly the Americans for Prosperity are. You don't know if it's a foreign-controlled corporation. You don't know if it's a big oil company, or a big bank." That's correct Mister President, we did not know. But here's hoping we all know a little more now...and that we remember when we vote in 2012. All three of the companies that build computer voting machines are owned by hard right wingers. They have proven that the machines can be rigged. In 2000 in some counties in Florida, more people voted than were registerd to vote in that county. They voted Republican. And what little paper trail there was, was immediately throw away by the Republicans running the elections in those counties. Without a paper trail, nothing can be proven or disproven. Wisconsin was a test. To see if they could make people believe it was real. And people started falling all over themselves to say how the union people who hated Walker voted for him because of this reason or that reason. This November Romney will win by a wide margin. The House and the Senate will go to the Republicans. Right after Romney is sworn in, 1 or 2 liberal Supreme Court Justices will site their health and retire. Completing the Coup of America by the Koch Brothers. They will realize their father's dream of owning their very own Country. But I could be wrong. Afterall the Koch Bros seem so reasonable. And they are hardly spending a dime on the elections. And the Roberts decision for the Affordable Healthcare bill. He was told to approve it so that Right Wingers could scream about a "NEW" tax. They won't need the Supreme Court decision after they own the Congress anyway. They can just repeal it and have Mitt sign it. But this way, they can make it look like people deserted Obama because of the "NEW" tax. Make his election defeat look plausible. |
