7.5 MILLION FILIPINOS OUT OF JOBS
BY ATTY. BATAS MAURICIO

The statistics will not lie, and, once more, the figures released by the National Statistics Office (NSO) show that more Filipinos (about 100,000 or so) got added to the ranks of the country's unemployed or those without jobs for January 2011 alone.

Overall, the NSO survey says there are now about 7.5 million Filipinos who do not have jobs (at an unemployment rate of 7.5% of the 100 million or so population today). This figure does not even include those who are employed but who are not really earning fully.

What do these figures indicate? Poverty and difficult lives among many Filipinos. What can we do about it?

My question is under the new president how many jobs have been created so far?
