Formula 1

Jackie Stewart has urged F1 to embrace driver coaches to avoid a repeat of Lewis Hamilton's Montreal mistake.

Ferrari will change Kimi Raikkonen's engine for Silverstone, without taking a penalty thanks to the new rules allowing one engine change without penalty.

Hamilton believes that Ferrari are beatable at Silverstone this weekend

Toyota will run a new livery this weekend after teaming up with Batman for the launch of the new Batman movie



MotoGP

Casey Stoner takes a dominant win at Assen. He is joined on the podium by Dani Pedrosa and Colin Edwards. Nicky Hayden and Andrea Dovizioso round out the top five.

Valentino Rossi appologises for the first corner crash he caused at Assen. The mistake has lost him the lead of the championship



Touring Cars

Bruno Spengler takes the pole for the DTM race at the Norisring. Jamie Green placed second, while Paul di Resta was the third fastest qualifier. In fourth was Timo Sheider, with Martin Tomczyk in fifth.

NASCAR

Juan Pablo Montoya paced the final practice in New Hampshire. Defending champion Jimmie Johnson was in second, while Montoya's Ganassi teammate Reed Sorenson was third. Kevin Harvick and Greg Biffle claimed the remaining two positions in the top five.

Chip Ganassi Racing dominate the second practice session at NHMS, with Juan Pablo Montoya, Dario Franchitti, and Reed Sorenson sweeping the top three positions. Points leader Kyle Busch was in fourth. Jeff Gordon was fifth fastest.

Formula 1

Bernie Ecclestone allegedly warned Max Mosley that people had been hired to find flaws in his personal life two months before Mosley's sex scandal became public.

The French Grand Prix will return to Magny-Cours in 2009. Major updates will be made to the facilities.

The FIA has abandoned their plan to ban tire warmers. The ban comes after safety concerns from drivers who had tested the tires already.

Lewis Hamilton concluded the Silverstone test yesterday in the first position. He was followed by Timo Glock's Toyota and Kimi Raikkonen's Ferrari.



Sports Cars

Andretti Green Racing has sacked both of their ALMS drivers, Bryan Herta and Christian Fittipaldi, in favor of a new duo. Franck Montagny was confirmed as one of the pilots.

A new GT4 championship based out of the Netherlands has been announced. The series will kick off in 2009.



MotoGP

Casey Stoner rids to the pole at Assen. Dani Pedrosa will roll off second, while Rossi grids third.

John Hopkins lost control of his Kawasaki in qualifying and crashed into the tire barrier. Hopkins suffered a broken ankle and will not participate in the Dutch Grand Prix.



Touring Cars

V8 Supercars could make the switch to E85 Ethanol in the near future.



IndyCar

Tony Kanaan wins the PEAK Motor Oil Pole Award, with teammate Marco Andretti joining him on the front row. Despite poor practice times, 19-year-old Graham Rahal was third quickest. Points leader Scott Dixon will start fourth, while Buddy Rice rolls off fifth.
Honda, BMW, Audi, Chevrolet, Mazda, Volkswagen, Fiat, Cosworth, Judd, AER, and Ilmor attended a meeting on future engine regulations in the IRL. Turbocharged V6s seemed to be the topic of discussion. A follow-up meeting has been scheduled.

Rookie Hideki Mutoh was involved in a pit road incident during practice. The number 27 car struck an AGR pit crew member, breaking his toe and bruising his foot.

Second practice ended prematurely due to rain. Scott Dixon was on top, while Buddy Rice was second. Third place was Ryan Briscoe for Penske, with EJ Viso continuing his strong run in fourth. Bruno Junqueira, coming off a DNS at Iowa, placed an impressive fifth.

Ryan Hunter-Reay topped the first practice session in Richmond. Scott Dixon posted the second best time, while Buddy Rice was a surprising third. Fourth quickest was EJ Viso, while Spaniard Oriol Servia rounded out the top five.

Enrique Bernoldi suffered a heavy crash in the first practice session. Bernoldi escaped injury.







NASCAR

Canadian Patrick Carpentier took his first career pole in a shocking qualifying session. Bobby Labonte starts second, his best position of the season. Kevin Harvick will roll off third, while Scott Riggs will start on the outside of row two. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. snagged the fifth starting spot for the race. Tony Raines and Marcos Ambrose failed to qualify.

Tony Stewart is set to buy out Haas/CNC Racing according to reports. Chevrolet will help Stewart out of his Joe Gibbs Racing contract. Stewart will be supposedly be sponsored by Office Depot, while Daytona 500-winner Ryan Newman is reported to be his teammate. Newman would be sponsored by Burger King.

Kevin Harvick paced the first practice session in New Hampshire. Jimmie Johnson was second, while a surprising Juan Pablo Montoya was third. Clint Bowyer and Kasey Kahne rounded out the fastest five.

Greg Biffle has signed with Roush Fenway Racing to stay at the team through 2011. 3M will return as the primary sponsor for all three seasons.

Casey Mears and Hendrick Motorsports will part ways at the end of the 2008 season. Mark Martin and Brad Keselowski are among the candidates to take over the number 5 seat.

Clint Bowyer has signed an extension with Richard Childress Racing.

IRL driver Dan Wheldon said that he is no longer considering a move to NASCAR.



Other

Following the passing of Scott Kalitta, the NHRA released an official report of their findings. The engine failure, parachute materials, brakes, shutdown area, and speed will be investigated in order to improve the safety of drag racing.

A1GP is looking at a race in Brazil for the 2008-2009 season.

A1GP will be broadcast in high definition next season.
