Intrasense all day... Who watches the watchmen? GNS. Real. Current. News. Minutes ago, the Joint Commanders of Task Force Arthran issued a warning to the Edictus government in response to the hacking of Delsanjo's intelligence node. The Arthran investigation found that Edictus Intelligence was responsible for the attack. With Edictus antagonizing their supposed defenders, and Kantus waiting at the fringes of the galaxy, it looks like the cold war may be going hot again on a different front. Joint Commander Nathanial Demeter has asked all Arthran worlds to sever ties with Edictus- a logical action, given that the leader of Edictus has acted against the Arthran forces. It remains to be seen whether these worlds will actually heed his command. If not, will they be treated as traitors and overrun? Only time will tell. We'll be watching this situation as it unfolds. So far, Earth has not responded. More at the :11. This has been a GNS Special Update. Intrasense All Day... |

Intrasense All Day... This is GNS. Real. Current. News. And it's the :11 so we have a major story. With a hacker drama playing out between the self-proclaimed defenders of humanity, the Arthran Fleet, and the Edictus High Command, we've gone straight to Earth for this one. President Nethun herself is granting us an interview via intrasense. The familiar screen-split takes place. On the left, President Miranda Nethun fades into view. Despite a placid expression, there are some signs of strain. So, Madam President. Would you care to respond to the Arthran Joint Command's accusations? The Edictus Intelligence Service Arm has been absolved of any wrongdoing by our own internal investigation. We did not, and never will, attempt an attack on Arthran extranet nodes. Joint Command's decision to honor blow for fictional blow, however, is a very real and damaging policy. Will Earth be taking steps to rectify the situation, then? Diplomatic measures, perhaps? It seems inappropriate to attempt to reason with an entity that is blindly preparing for war. The Edictus Fleets are on heightened readiness should the Arthran go through with any of their threats. Nevertheless, our diplomatic corps are pursuing all options while they are still admitted on Delsanjo. I expect they shall be kicked off of that world soon. So you see this situation as irreconcilable? I wouldn't say that. The Edictus has come back from worse - a two decade genocide by the Kantus, a complete abandonment by the Arthran after Aura. We will prevail, and the democratic institution we have given our ancient nation will help us prevail. Force of arms never hurts, either. I mean, do you feel that a reconciliation between Edictus and Arthran over this matter will not take place? It is too early to say. Intrafactional politics is a heavy-handed game, and even when someone does something as bold as claim that a government hacked their extranet node or that a very real attack on Domain was a fabrication, you can only grin, bear it, and work behind the scenes to turn the situation to your favor. President Nethun seems to relax a bit, then tense up. So do you think you will have more support from the Edictus client worlds than Arthran appears to have from theirs? And do you think any Arthran worlds allied with your clients will move to help Edictus against the Arthran Fleet if need be? Let's be honest, not all Edictus client worlds are fond of me. Nethun laughs. The Edictus has always been very much about individuality, very much about weaving your own path into the tapestry of the empire's future. I would say that our client worlds have been doing very well so far - just with allying with Arthran client alliances, they have shown far greater forgiveness for the Arthran betrayal after Aura than I ever could. I think that we will see the true patriots separated from those who simply reside in the Edictus as ultimatums become more dire on Delsanjo. So do you have anything to say to the galaxy? I do. Many criticisms have been leveled against me, but I assure you that I am simply trying to find the best solution available to the Edictus. If it comes to war, we will be ready. If the Arthran continue to resort to lies and underhanded tactics, we will counter with truth and by forcing their schemes into the light. They cannot hide behind the cover of an Emperor that may or may not be returning. Hold faith, Edictians. And I mean that in a very real way - unlike the Emperor, we should see the outcome of this situation within a few days. Thank you for your time. Thank you. The Earth feed is pushed offscreen as the studio takes over the other side. There you have it, folks. Edictus seems to be handling matters somewhat rationally. War still seems likely, though, so stay alert. And stay tuned to GNS for the best coverage of this situation, as it unfolds. Arcjets! Arcjets! Arcjets!
