This is GNS. Real. Current. News.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to an exclusive report hosted by GNS reporter on the scene, Perrin Alfonse. Tonight we will take our audience on an exclusive insiders look examining the condition of derelict, or "inactive", planets. Largely forgotten, these planets constitute more then half of all inhabited worlds. Ending with an exclusive interview, be sure not to miss it, a special hour of news at :11

Coming up:

Planet wide rioting occurred throughout many Edictus worlds, as protesters demanded military action against the Snow Ravens. Policing action was necessary: initial damage and injury reports are still being updated, though the projected numbers place billions in property damage and thousands maimed.

An amateur astrologist claims to have discovered a pattern to the abnormal geomagnetic activity observed throughout the galaxy. Claims that the Core Worlds of all three faction are in imminent danger.

Crime ratings in urban populations are found to be steadily increasing throughout the galaxy. Listen to what many have to say about this jump in criminal activity and the lackluster response of municipal governments.

Now the News.

It is thought that greater then half of all planets that have been colonized by humans have failed. The main cause is intense fighting among the factions, but other calamities such as local disease, famine, or the lack of natural resources are fairly common as well.

We will be examining the famous planet Domain. This planet was regarded as one of the finest and led the galaxy in Industrial and Technological advancement. However, Domain's former glory is now a mere shadow of itself after its systematic destruction carried out by TEst forces. Domain's development severely crippled, the leaders of the planetary government, as well as any who could afford to hire a shuttle, fled the ruins. Citizens of the lower income class were forced to stay behind.

As you can see from the footage, the capital city of Domain, the Gate, is completely devastated. The skyline has been reduced to rubble, the previously surrounding Gulf, bordering the city, has completely evaporated and a 15-mile crater is all that is left of the core of the city.

This map shows that almost a third of the planet was glassed by the chain bombing of Domain. Intense amounts of dust kicked up during the invasion blocked the local star, creating vast inhospitable regions. Of those left behind, it is estimated that only 40% survive.

Many of those left behind flock to the old Metropolitan areas in search of food, shelter, and the prospects of other humans. They create small villages, however they face much adversity. Physical deformities and mental retardation as a result of the nuclear fallout is common, water sources are rare and usually contaminated, and ruthless slavers periodically appear taking the children and women as sex slaves, while selling the men to military juntas that press them into service. Dust Storms frequently block the chance of any sunlight for months on end, making cultivation impossible as well as undependable. Many resort to cannibalism in the face of food shortages.

Many agencies such as the H.H.O (Human Health Organization) and the U.R.E (United Relief Effort) demand a coordinated response between the governments of the three respective factions to aid these displaced refugees. However, no local governments are willing to grant these refugees citizenship status. A drain on their economy and suffering from many debilitating health problems there is no reason for such measures. Not once they face growing poverty on their own planets.

As Human Rights agencies struggle for humanitarian aid for these civilians the wheels of bureaucracy halt and the refugees continue life as normal. The fact that only more people will eventually lead such lives in the face of a greater conflict only highlights the necessity of a solution.

We would like to conclude our segment with a short interview. Me and my team were able to conduct an interview with a young man living among the destruction of Domain.

And we're on.

So please, can you explain the events leading to your current condition?

Yes, it started the week before the bombings. There were mass messages alerting the populace that TEst fighter divisions were inbound. Those living in the cities were herded into underground bunkers. Poor souls, they never had a chance. You see these bunkers turn into large ovens once the thermal temperatures soar after a direct hit. Their purpose was not to protect, their purpose was to calm the civilians. Long enough for the executives and politicians to escape. After the bombings the only ones living were those in the country side. Away from any militarily strategic positions. All communications went down after the bombings and I never heard a message issued from Domain's government ever again.

So how did you realize that Domain no longer had a functional government?

The things I saw, they made me realize there wasn't a chance in Hell that there was any order left on this world.

Could you point any instances out?

The first thing I did was head back to the cities. I didn't see a trace of anyone else, so I looked for the public bunkers. The first three were caved in, but I found one with a entrance that I could crawl through. Like everywhere else there was no electricity. I found myself next to rows of beds and saw a person lying down, presumably sleeping. I placed my hand on her shoulder to wake her up, the skin stuck to my hand and peeled off easier then a banana skin.

Did you ever meet anyone else?

Oh yes, I found myself a nice community to settle down. It even wasn't near one of the bigger cities so radiation levels from nukes were minimal.

Why are you alone at the moment then?

I had settled in quite nicely. Started a family and lived in a larger flat cleared of rubble. I had a good enough life, considering I was living in a post-apocalyptic world. Then the raiders came. Completely surrounding us, they took my kids, my wife. They sold them into whoredom and I could do nothing but watch as they stripped them. They took everyone. The men that fought back were shot. But not before they were forced to watch their families slaughtered. I realized that groups make big targets and it's easier to feed one mouth rather then seventy.

How did you escape capture?

I did what I've become very good at. Hide.

Do you have any hopes of rescue?

No. I don't believe in the goodwill of humanity.

Do you have a message for our viewers?

All of you, all of you will know what it is to fear the sirens. To hear the flashes. To choke on dust. To feast on human flesh. All of you will suffer lonely abandonment. All of you will hear the sirens.

The Snow Ravens find it amusing that the citizens of Edictus are seeking vengeance against us by beating each other up and destroying their own property.
