Like I said in the Kantus response to this, we should just do away with spying and make the data freely available, or perhaps some of it freely available. There's no cost or penalty for failure. |

Why do away with Spying? It extends the possibility inducing increased tension, of new battles being fought and hence keep interest in the game high. Some planetary info is freely available already, e.g. a planets funds, why should anymore be? As for no cost/penalty, there is the fact of being caught/reported and the possible repercussions. I'll agree that a cost/penalty could be placed on spy ops. Perhaps a flat rate cost based on strength/era? And a penalty on failed spy ops, maybe, a 50% or random chance of the spy giving all info on his planet. |

But everyone's been saying that spying is a simple information-gathering technique and not a valid causus beli... And yes, we should certainly put some cost to spy attempts, as well as having the spies give up spy data on their home world. |

Good point, being a former neutral has caused me to forget about the wars around the galaxy. |
