This is GNS. Real. Current. News. Coming up: Geomagnetic storms increase in magnitude in response to heightened solar activity, striking communication and conflict across the galaxy. Is this phenomenon related to the Galactic Nausea? Market updates every :11 by our panel of galactic economic experts. With 3000 GE in full swing, how will the Common Market’s situation shape up? The Legion backs out of its pact with MK, citing pressure from the KLIT bloc. Were they forced out of an honest treaty? Our resident political experts explain the story. Show, don’t tell us how you’re feeling about the- Breaking news: Neraltia, Virgo Cluster. After losing contact with the planet Neraltia for several weeks following the Galactic Nausea, reconnaissance vessels from neighboring worlds have confirmed the worst: the entire star system has succumbed to a supernova event. Our field correspondent Gina Davoy is on location to tell us more. Gina? Thank you, Sam. This is, simply, the most destructive natural event to hit the galaxy in countless millennia. In what must have been mere hours, Neraltia’s star went nova, ejected a high energy gamma ray burst, and collapsed into itself to form what you see behind me, a low-grade black hole. We are being urged by the Virgo Port Authority, which has taken over search and rescue operations here, to maintain several AUs’ worth of distance from this black hole, as small as it is. Neraltia was a relatively small world, but transmissions from the increasingly isolationist planet suggested that it had entered the fifth Era of Advancement in an impossibly short time. Whether that supposed advancement played a role in the supernova event remains to be seen. In addition, Neraltia’s star was generally believed to be stable. It wasn’t even a red supergiant, and wouldn’t normally have become one for millions of years. What is known is that Neraltia was struck by the collapsing star’s gamma ray burst and its atmosphere and some crust was burned away. It is now falling into the black hole that was once its star, and within the month the world will be no more. Most scientists are blaming the Galactic Nausea. Says one researcher working for the Edictus Astro-Meterological Service Arm working under condition of anonymity, “The data we have seen since the Galactic Nausea seems to indicate that stellar activity is being affected by post-Nausea conditions. This supernova fits the theory, the geomagnetic storms fit the theory. Until we receive contradictory data, we must assume that the events of the Nausea have affected our galaxy more fundamentally than a psychological ‘reset’.” Sam, Neraltia once held two million people. Now, the Virgo Port Authority says it has only found corpses and live refugees in ships amounting to some two hundred people. Exploration of the surface of the world for clues is perilous – as I mentioned earlier, there is a very limited time frame for Port Authority vessels to land on the world before it falls too far into that small black hole, and most of that time will be spent waiting for the surface to cool. From Neraltia, I’m Gina Davoy, and this is GNS. Back to you, Sam. Thank you, Gina. Obviously, this is an incredibly troubling story, one that we’re going to continue following here right after this break… |

Wait, so, there was a SUPERNOVA and neighboring worlds were... Actually, come to think of it, the light et all from the supernova won't reach them for years and years, so it makes sense that they would be unaffected. Interesting thought, a risk of FTL travel to a system that hasn't been heard from, you could fly straight into a supernova. |

It is fairly standard procedure to send a probe ahead. |

Yes a probe is a good idea, star ships dont fly without them xD, unless they are sucidal. Anyhoo on lighter news The people of D'nal are shocked and saddened of this recent event of the death of many lives. |
