[GNS ARCHIVE, 02:19:43 SDT, 11/25/2971] /ARCHIVE retrieval begin: This is GNS. Real. Current. News. Coming up: Has the post-Koryo market boom turned into a bust? Our panel of experts analyze the changes since the King of Man's Kantus Ridge speech and what it means for the Northern fringe. Will the Emperor react to Secunda's secession? Weigh in on our all-open poll, representing seventy million worlds in our GNS-ESA poll so far. Don't tell, show us how you're feeling about the situation in Secunda and the brushfire wars in the Western fringe with our prototype emotrâ„¢ intrasense feed. Take a look at the newest fashions, features, and creature comforts in the 2972 models of personal and family starcraft with Bob Mergian, our resident expert. Continuing our live coverage of the Kantus Rebellion... An exclusive look from the GNS communications tender Flight of Foot reveals the Emperor's response to the King of Man, arriving over a year after the King of Man's famous Kantus Ridge speech. Since then, reporters have been banished off of the planet, but our two communications tenders like the Flight of Foot have been able to capture remarkable satellite footage of what's been going on down on Secunda since. The Emperor's response, as it turns out, is one of the biggest Edictus Fleets we've seen, even since the Koryo Campaign some two centuries ago. We now go live to our cybernetic pilot of the Flight of Foot, Sarah Li-Shui, for more. Sarah, are you there? Yes, John, and the footage I'm getting is absolutely incredible. It seems that the Edictus Fleet that you can see to the left edge of the camera is numbering at least some eighteen hundred vessels - that's one thousand, eight hundred vessels as my FOF clearance is telling me. My FOF clearance is also labeling these ships as 'Task Force Archer', which I'll take as the name of this force. On the opposing side, the King of Man's forces number some two hundred. If you'll just let me pan the camera here, you can see them in some detail. What does the tactical situation look like over there, Sarah? It seems like the odds are against the King of Man with this Task Force Archer in orbit. Are you and the Flight of Foot in any danger? No, I am in high Secunda orbit and safely out of the way of any danger I can see. This tender made it through the Leo Mariner brushfire wars, as you remember last month, and what I learned there I hope I won't have to apply here. Should, God forbid, the Edictus even go as far as bombarding this planet, I am high enough where I am in no danger. And speaking of bombardment, I have to be honest with you, it really looks like there's not much hope for Secunda at this point. There have to be people who want out - do you have any refugees aboard? No, John, both the commander of Task Force Archer and the Throne Government of Secunda have forbidden me to take anyone aboard. I'm all alone up here. It seems that- We're- Sorry, Sarah, but our other communications tender in orbit, the Circumference, is telling me that they are seeing signs of battle between the Kantus Throne Fleets and Edictus Task Force Archer. Are you in a position to zoom your cameras in on that? Yes, I received the message and I am trying to show you that right now. If you're just starting to listen in, the situation over Secunda has just erupted into open conflict between Kantus and Edictus fleets, and- oh. Oh, my God. Sarah, are you still there? Are you seeing this? John, I honestly have to say that I've never seen anything like this. The Edictus Task Force Archer started moving in, and just all of a sudden this light started shooting out from the Kantus ships, like some sort of visible-spectrum Taclas beam. And the Edictus ships just started detonating. That seems to be what's still happening now. Sarah, are you absolutely sure that you're at a safe range? Those beams just started picking off Edictus ships far before they could fire back. I gotta tell you, I'm not so sure now. The Circumference and I are making preparations to jump away as soon as we can, but while the drive warms up we are continuing to send you these disturbing pictures of what seems to be a battle gone terribly wrong for the Edictus Task Force Archer here today. You stay safe out there, Flight of Foot. Quick analysis of the battle we're seeing right now is showing that these new Kantus weapons, whatever they may be, are far superior to the antimatter-and-neutrino that we've seen on Edictus vessels. So far, some half of Task Force Archer -that's nine thousand ships- are either crippled or destroyed against the King of Man's two-hundred-strong force. Ladies and gentlemen, whatever the Kantus are using, it may change the face of the galaxy as we know it. |
