While futzing with my avatar, I found this Photoshop tutorial: How to Create a Planet Icon Set in Photoshop. Forget the "Icon Set" in the title and maybe ignore most of Step 1 (since it's just there to make a nice background while you work) because it has some useful and fairly easy tips for turning a texture into a planet. Plus the author linked to a great set of planetary textures: Nebulae Grunge, from this fantastic free texture site: Lost and Taken. Have fun! The Author's Result ![]() My Result |

I'm sure there are. Of the tutorials you've followed, which do you recommend? |

hmm, well most of them say basically the same thing, theres a decent none around about an exploding planet that looks quite cool (its the ico on this forum for new posts), and the one in my avatar is a very complex long tutorial, but the end result is very good and has lots of depth to it. |

This is more about the Fall's forums if it's Fall-related at all, so mov'd. Nice tutorial, though. I have a cache of about twenty planets sitting around from something unrelated myself. |

Looks great, I'll definitely look into making my own planet. |
