Some of you may be asking yourselves many questions such as: What does RP stand for? What is RPing? How does RPing work? How do I RP without sounding like a total n00b? Why would you make a site to RP? In case you haven't noticed, these sections are color-coded. While it may be harder on your eyes, it will be more easy to keep track of what you are looking up. First up, RP stands for Role Play. There are many variations to the word, just like many words, for easier use: RP = Role Play EX. I am participating in a RP this weekend. (Don't you DARE mock my examples, or you won't get any )RPing = Role Playing EX. I will be RPing this weekend. RP's = Role Plays EX. I have participated in many RP's before. RPed = Role Played EX. I RPed a lot over the weekend. See how it works now? It's not so hard. Alright, I'm going to make this quick and painless, since most of you probably dislike long blocks of text (At least it's colored, and if you don't like text, then why are you on my forum?). RPing, or Role Playing, if you referred to the section above in red (Kudos to you), is basically like a Role Playing Game (RPG) if you've ever played one (i.e. Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Dungeons and Dragons), but without the "game" part. RP's are typically text based, meaning you read and write what your character is doing, or thinking. There are thousands of different types of RP's relating from Futuristic Societies, to Fantasy (Like mine), or even Vampires (I HATE these). They consist of many players creating a pretend character, either portraying themselves or not, and posting their interactions with other characters and the environment around them. RPing works rather simply, if I might say. As described above, many people gather in a forum or chat room, producing their own characters and interacting with others. You post what your character does, says, or thinks, and other people respond to it. That's basically the stripped down version, as simple as it gets. Forum-based RP's (Like mine again) are typically taken care of Moderators and Admins (Like me), who create and enforce rules that the Guests (You) and Members (Also maybe you) must follow. "Bunnying" is one such thing that's against the rules. Bunnying is when you accidentally "control" another member's character. EX. Alkaios was walking through the dense forest, and noticed a man hiding in a tree. You may ask, "Why is this bunnying? I don't see anything wrong..." But the truth is that you saw him in the tree. You didn't give the other person a chance to post and reply to what your character did, and in addition, if the other player stated that their character was "hiding", then you can't say you've seen them. You have to play along with the situation. Now, just as a note to yourself, if you plan on joining an RP, make sure you stay active because a) You'll be forgotten, or b) Yes, your character can be deleted, or you will be removed from the RP. Keep in mind this only happens in extreme situations where you haven't even logged on in several months. Now, you probably understand what RPing is, and how it works. Now you want to know how to do it. The answer is simple. Be as descriptive as you can in all your posts, use correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization, and don't repeat the same word over and over and over again. In addition, YOU MUSN'T ONE-LINE. One-lining means your posts are exactly as it sounds, one-lined. These kinds of posts are pointless, and no fun to read. Get the point? When you follow these instructions, you'll find that your posts may be longer, but the other people in the forum will have a more enjoyable time reading them. If you don't follow them, that's when you sound like a n00b (Also known as an offensive name for newbies, for those of you that aren't familiar with that term). Now for that last question. There are many responses to that question. Literally lots. Here are some reasons (some may not be good, but they're a reason): 1. The majority of the population creates RP's for the sake of entertainment. When you get lots of people to play, it's more enjoyable, and you'll actually find yourself having a good time. 2. Because they're bored. 3. Because they're hungry (Now why would this help? Not sure.) 4. Because they have nothing better to do with their lives (Like me. Just kidding. But seriously.). 5. Because they are feeling lonely. Now that we know the reasons people create RP's (None of them have to do with me. Or do they?), how they work, what it stands for, how to RP, and what it is..... TIME FOR YOU TO GO HAVE SOME FUN!!! |

Now, if you have questions, or "preguntas" in Spanish, LOLZ (Don't say that in an RP), ask them here, and I'll answer them as long as their not in gibberish. I may speak Spanish, but not gibberish. |
