The Netherlands will make sure that Iraq is stable before any amount of forces are pulled out. That is of course, unless the Iraqi government wants the forces out. |

![]() The final group of soldiers awaiting to, finally, fly home. With 95% of Japanese troops already out of Iraq, the remaining troops are left to do some last minute "spring cleaning" of the base area. Despite the lack of personnel, morale was the highest since it was when the war started. The commander of Japanese forces in Iraq praised the young men and women who served, saying "you have come here and have represented your country honorably. You have all served Japan with bravery in this hot, dry land. I have been honored to command such an amazing group of human beings." Deployment 30 troops |

With the September deadline arriving, the United States has opted to leave around 25,000 troops in Iraq, mostly (8,000) situated in the Victory base Complex as well as a smaller component in Southern Iraq and Northern Iraq (~2,500 troops in each base). The rest of the armed forces personnel will be located at Balad Air Base and at Taqaddum Air Base. This number does not include pilots and ground crews that will be stationed at the air bases. |
