I got some recommendations from /v/, curious if Mafu or some one has played them before. General indie horror suggestion thread I guess. Demonophonia - Sidescrolling game with small puzzles, guro, lolicon, and general ultra violence. Goes for shock value, difficult at times frustrating. No sound or combat, just dodging monsters. Xenophobia - Demonophobia's sequel. Incomplete, no English version. Yume Nikki - No idea. Don't even know if I spelled it right. Ao Oni - Made in RPG Maker, top down. Seems to only have one enemy that chases you around, no way to fight it you have to run and hide. Which - Difficult to see anything in, a first person game that reminds me of some of those point an click flash adventure games. Didn't get anywhere in it, apparently I need to find some keys. I'll post some screenies later if anyone cares. Figured Mafu would know some better ones, none of those (other than Yume Nikki or whatever since I didn't play it) caught my attention much. Amnesia and Penumbra go without saying. I'd prefer if the games were easy on my computer since it sucks. |

No because you're a democrat living in Texas, which is IMPOSSIBLE meaning you do not exist. - AceofSpades Violence solves everything. Like jigsaw puzzles. I could not find the piece that completed the cloud on the left side, so out of anger I punched my sister. Her earring came off and as I bent down to pick it up so that I could sell it at a pawn shop, I noticed it had landed right on top of the piece I needed. - Fintron So I tied a noose in my closet, and then my dad came by and was like, "lol Chris why you tioeing nooses in your closet?" -Mafujalate329 | |

If you're lookin' for Horror, I suggest trying out this game: http://www.acid-play.com/download/fiend It ran perfectly on my old PC, so no worries about performance. |

If you can score yourself a Gamecube, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem is one if the best horror games ever made. I want to say there's an Eternal Darkness game for the N64, but I can't remember; if that is the case, you should just be able to run it through Project 64 without much fuss. far as PC games go, there is I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, which is pretty fantastic, The Suffering, which has some pretty legendarily bad box art, and Maniac Mansion, in which you must not microwave the hamster. There us also a game called something Call of Cthulu that is a lot of fun. There is also Dark Seed and System Shock II, which are two of the greatest pillars of the horror genre. You might need to acquaint yourself with DOSbox for some of these older games, though. |

The Suffering was awful. Haven't played the rest though, thanks for the suggestions. |

No, Constantine was a game that was awful in the best way possible, it was so bad it was fun. The Suffering had some interesting monsters and scenes, but was never scary or fun imo, just kinda blah. |

Ib is pretty cool, and so far it's been the only one one here I've both played and enjoyed. It's a Japanese RPG maker game, often compared to Yume Nikki in atmosphere but with very different gameplay. Gameplay is a combination of exploration, puzzles, and dodging the occasional enemy as there's no way to fight back. The graphics are a better than your average RPG Maker game, but it's still RPG Maker we're talking about. Here's what /v/ had to say about it:
Screenshots won't show much, but with all things that are popular and Japanese, there's a shit ton of fanart to give you a better idea of what you'll find in it. Spoiler: click to toggle
