The Jaidi Scribes are the support force of the Jaidi Order. Dedicated to research and development, they are divided into three orders. Order of the Sword The Order of the Sword is dedicated to the development of weaponry. This includes laserswords, blasters, explosives, combat droids, and combat vehicles. Scribes in the Order of the Sword tend to fill one of three occupations: Scribe Researchers These scribes are the bookworms of the Order of the Sword. They research and study new weapon technologies in the hopes of developing better weapons against the Dark Side. Scribe Builders These scribes are the ones who actually build the new weapons, or simply tinker with the existing ones. Unlike the studious Researchers, Scribe Builders specialize in mechanical and technological expertise. Most fully-trained Scribe Builders can repair, upgrade, and construct a great deal of machines and technology. The experienced ones can disassemble and reassemble a device from memory. The master Scribe Builders can discern the inner workings of a device they've never seen before just by a glance. Scribe Testers Unlike the other two scribe occupations, Scribe Testers are actually combat-trained. They just never see any real action aside from testing out weapons and seeing if they work. There's a high rate of injury for exploding prototypes, but plenty of people become Scribe Testers because they like being so close to the action without actually being in real danger. The full combat training is akin to a Jaidi Knight. One needs to be able to know how to handle a weapon to properly test it. In times of dire need, Scribe Testers are sometimes called to the battlefield when manpower is in short supply, but this has not happened in many years. In some cases, scribes may multi-class across the three occupations. Order of the Shield The Order of the Shield is dedicated to the development of defensive technology. This includes armor, force fields, barricades, support droids, and support vehicles. There's a high rate of injury for failed prototypes, but plenty of people become Scribe Testers because they like being so close to the action without actually being in real danger. The full combat training is akin to a Jaidi Knight. One needs to be able to know how to handle armor to properly test it. In times of dire need, Scribe Testers are sometimes called to the battlefield when manpower is in short supply, but this has not happened in many years. In some cases, scribes may multi-class across the three occupations. Order of the Quill The Order of the Quill is dedicated to collection of knowledge and record keeping. Scribes in the Order of the Quill tend to fill one of three occupations. Scribe Archivists Scribe Archivists are tasked with the tedious job of storing all text in the archives and library. Translating all data in to various common tongues, the Scribe Archivists store and sort the information gathered into useable and reviewable records. Specializing in the storage, organization and retrieval of knowledge, they receive and archive knowledge so that others might learn. Delving into many areas of study, Scribe Archivists rarely leave the archives, and are not combat-trained. Sometimes one is sent on a data-retrieval mission, or is tasked with accompanying diplomats in need of a constant stream of information. In most cases, these missions are non-combative or they are given a Jaidi Knight bodyguard. Scribe Librarian Walking the halls of the libraries and archives, Scribe Librarians are the main interface with the collection of knowledge stored any library or archive. Interacting with visiting Jaidi and assisted by small droids, a Scribe Librarian can help locate any resource at a moments notice. Their knowledge of the contents of the archives is said to be unmatched, even by machines. Just ask for what you need to know, and one can point you to where it in in the archives. Scribe Historian Scribe Historians, or Scribe Chroniclers, are members of the Order of the Quill specializing in research not only into the history of the Jaidi, but also the early beginnings of the entirety of Nova Labyrinth. Scribe Historians are responsible for recording, studying, and researching the history of every Jaidi Knight, as each one has a personal record stored in the history archives, detailing every deed they did from birth to death. As a Scribe Historian once said, "We must not repeat the mistakes of the past." It is not uncommon for scribes in the Order of the Quill to multi-class across the three occupations. To become a Jaidi Scribe, one must take a Force-based test to decide if they have the proper mental capacity to become one, and which Order they will be placed in. It is not at all unusual for a scribe to be transferred to another Order if they are having difficulty with the work there. Usually, all it takes is a few tries before the scribe finds which Order they truly belong in. |
