Fas decided to where she came from. Her chance to redeem and set her nomadic tribe into history was lost. She convinced herself that she was in the right. One should never work with a goblin because they are murderers. Fas, for a minute, almost thought that she was prejudiced, but then she remembered what the goblins had done to her, her tribe, and she could never work with another goblin. It would dishonor her tribe. Then she stopped for a moment. Was it really her tribe's honor, or was it her own pride? She wasn't sure. She then continued walking toward Xiodar to get some supplies that she needed if she was going to continue living how she was. But she thought of something else. She was very young when she became the last of her tribe and was not sure of all of their customs and parties and holidays. She really didn't know much at all considering the grand scheme of things. She was very carefree before the battles. It bothered her that she did not even know much about the tribe whose honor she was trying to protect. She hoped that there was someone else who knew more about her tribe but frankly, she couldn't think of any. Then she found a solution. The people in Xiodar lived very near to the tribe, plus they had traded with the nation of Xiodar a lot. Surely someone there would know about her lost tribe. As she strode into town catching the eye of many men, she walked up to the innkeeper. The only person that she had ever met that lived in Xiodar and the only person who she thought could know the most about her tribe. "Hello," the innkeeper said sifting through his mail and merely glanicing at Fas. "What kind of room would you like? Just a room for one?" Fas smiled, "No room please, may I have a word with you?" The innkeeper looked up from his business and saw Fas. "Fas? Is that really you? Last time I saw you must have been when you were nine years old. My goodness, you've grown into a very mature and attractive young woman." "Thank you," Fas said, brushing back her hair. "But really I need to speak with you, preferably alone?" The innkeeper made sure that his spot was being filled and motioned for her to come into his office and as she did, he closed the door. |

Fas sat down on a rather unsturdy chair, but she didn't way very much so the chair was fine. The innkeeper sat down on al elaborate chair and asked, "What can I do you for? I mean, what can I do for you? You know what I mean." Fas laughed a little. It was the same old innkeeper, messing up his phrases. Then she replied, "Well, I was wondering...you knew a lot about my tribe, right?" "Well no, not really actually. I know some, but it is probably not anymore than you. After they were mostly wiped out, I wanted to stay away from then lest I be wiped out. Or rather, I can't really be wiped out. I meant attacked. You know what I mean," the innkeeper nervously shuffled his feet as he spoke. "To tell you the truth, pretty much everyone did in this town here. I mean most of them tried to stay away, not that they were attacked. You know what I mean. We did send out some to help you, but they never came back and neither did any of the other teams we sent to help you. Well not team teams, you know what I mean, like groups." "I see," Fas answered, looking down sadly. "So is there anyone in this town who knows the tribe better than you? I would love to learn more about my tribe. I was too carefree in my youth to try and memorize everything about it, and I'm sure I missed a lot." "Oh, well I'd like to help, but sorry I can't," the innkeeper replied. "Stop by more often, please? I mean, when you can, not just do it just to do it. You know what I mean." Fas turned to leave and then he said, "Wait a minute. There was a traveler who stopped here a few months ago that may be the person that you could be looking for. Well, you aren't really looking for him, but you are interested in what he knows. You know what I mean," Fas's light features brightened. "Most of his bags were packed with books and he was very scholarly. He told me that he knew almost everything about anything and that anything unusual that happened he could explain. He seemed like a smart fellow and I'm sure that if he traveled through here, he must have done research on your tribe. Let's see, he lives in Otoya. That is far away, but I'm sure that if you find him he could tell you anything you wanted to know." Fas was happy. "Thank you so much. I think I'll go see him. Can you right down everything you know about him so I can find him?" The innkeeper obliged and handed the parchment over to her. She stuffed it away in her pack and continued on. she walked out of the inn with a smile on her face. Her tribe's future would not be lost with her. |
