Is anyone else following? If you havent been - USA leads the charts in medal count thus far - but that remains to be seen after today's events. The last update I saw had us at 6 medals and Germany trailing at 4, with everyone else behind that. Women's cross country skiing as well as men's were today, men's snowboarding cross country, and tonight we have men's alpine, men's 500K speedskating, and the conclusion of the pairs figure skating. |

Country Total United States 2 2 4 8 France 2 0 2 4 Germany 1 3 0 4 Switzerland 3 0 0 3 South Korea 2 1 0 3 That's as of 11:21pm I'm watching part of it. I only care about Figure Skating and Hockey but I did see the opening ceremony not as cool as that of the Beijing. |

You have to consider too how much money was put into both; I don't know if you caught the totals during the opening ceremonies but Beijing's tab was 300-400 million whereas Vancouver's only ran 30-40 million. I don't think anyone will eclipse Beijing's opening, or closing ceremonies for that matter. I also thuroughly enjoy the competition we're having im my science class right now because my black is winning =]. We each choose a country (each being the three blocks) and first block has Germany, second block which is my class has USA and fourth block has Norway. Which ever class has the most points at the end, gets some kind of party - which seems juvinile, but I just like the competition. We have it set up to where every gold, silver, and bronze a country recieves earns that block five, three, or one point respectively. We decorated the entire hallway too with flags, posters, information about the games, stats, and even a scatterplot to keep up with the medal counts. It's great fun. Especially knowing that Wednesday when I go back (we're off for weather tomorrow) USA will be in the lead still (hopefully) and my class will still be in the lead also. I'm debating on watching the entirety of tonights events - those that got delayed today because of conditions, which are one of the speed skating events and womens luge that I know of. |

Germany is winning by one medal. And even so, yes the money that went into the openings were completely different. It still sucked. It was boring and made no sense. The only cool part was the whales. |

I know. It's pissing me off. And hey, I'm not saying I enjoyed the openings and I completely agree that it was crappy and a;;, but I think that probably is a byproduct of the fact that they spent so little on it. |

Did you see the Canada is actually giving up on that whole medal thing? Since they see that they can't catch up with the Americans. We've become Russia. |
