Bible Prophecy
The Atheist's Nightmare

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are those who make predictions and there are those who call themselves prophets but there is no other book on Earth that can compare with the bible when it comes to fulfilled prophecy. The Jean Dixon's of the world make predictions and at best 10 percent of them come true. Men like Nostradamus write books of so called prophecies and are proved wrong time and time again. And quite often the predictions made are so clouded by confusing language that the fulfillments can be twisted to mean just about anything.

Jesus did the organizing for His church and whenever men go beyond that pattern (found only in the New Testament of Jesus Christ) they do so at their own peril. One needs to only read the New Testament to see the problem that has been created over the last two centuries within the churches. [ a Christian quote.]

accept the Bible just as it is, for exactly what it claims to be. dont worry about the theories of the critics. the ingenious and impudent effort of modern criticism to undermine the historical reliability will pass; and the BIBLE ITSELF will stand as the light of the human race to the end of time. pin your Faith to the Bible. its Gods Word. it will never let you down. for men it is the Rock of Ages. trust in its teachings.

All biblical prophecy proves is that the men who wrote the later books to prove Jesus was the one prophesied in the earlier books knew what those earlier books said. Postdictions and not predictions.

Thanks for the article Bruce.

As I stated to the other Thread:

It's awesome knowing we can be 100% assured that when our Heavenly Father speaks, it's a done deal.

It is very assuring knowing that those future events He speaks of will be taking place, absolutely. We serve an awesome God!

Also thought is was considerate of them to post the following WARNING on their Home Page:

WARNING: If you lack the courage to examine the claims of Christ, you will not be comfortable at this web site. The evidences for the reality of Jesus of Nazareth as the Christ and for the accuracy of the scriptures are overwhelming. No thinking man can honestly and fully examine them and remain an unbeliever.

Obviously wrong. Millions of "thinking" men and women have honesty and fully examined the evidence and found it lacking. Could it not also be said that the evidence for the reality of a 13.5 billion year old universe is overwhelming. No thinking man can honestly and fully examine that evidence and remain a young earther.

Did that scare or convince you? I expect not. No more than that silly warning would scare non-believers.

You have to remember the bible is 2000 years old. In that span of time virtually anything you prophesize is going to come true or can be interpreted as having come true. And most biblical prophecy is rather vague, lacking in specifics with regards to names or dates.

As far as Nostradamus is concerned, he has a far better track record than the bible. He actually named names, or very close to them.(Hister, Napoleron, etc) .

Prophesy on the whole really means little unless you name dates. If I prophesize right now that there will be a war in China, chances are in the next 2000 years, I will be proven correct.

Paul,

Again, you are stating incorrect information. As I shared in the other Thread of Bruce's regarding Bible prophecy, I would be willing to go through a discussional study with you and any others who have an interest, online or privately. We all may learn something new, as well it could be entertaining.

Regards,
JackA

Jack can you tell me any prophecy that has come true that would likely not have anyway in the last 2000 years? 2000 years is a very long time, you know. There are plenty in there that have not come true and may never. I dont care who makes predictions unless they give names & dates, it means absolutely nothing. Less so as time goes on.

If somebody tells me Mt Rainier is going to erupt on Nov 5, 2016 and it does, I will concede they have made a correct prophesy. if someone says Mt Rainier is going to erupt sometime before the year 2500, that is foregone conclusion.

Another problem with Biblical prophesy or that of someone like Nostrodamus, it is is very easy to make an event fit it in retrospect. If it was that clear to start with then it would have been obvious before hand. Humans are very good at placing the specific to the obscure when they can make it fit somehow.

Genuine divine Bible prophecy
Prophecy is foretelling an event in such detail before it happens so as to necessarily require divine guidance. The Bible is a book containing hundreds of detailed prophecies. There are, for example, well over 60 distinct predictions in regard to our divine Saviour Jesus Christ. Here is a sample of just 10 prophecies that foretold the crucifixion of Christ. Not only were the predictions made 1000 years before Christ came from heaven to earth, but they were made over 500 years before crucifixion was first used anywhere in the world as a form of capital punishment! Crucifixion didn't exist when the prophecies were made.

A scientist picked out 48 such prophecies and determined that the probability of one man randomly fulfilling them all is 1 in 10 to the exponent of 157. That is one followed by 157 zeros! Your chances of winning a typical lottery jackpot is about 1 in 108. (100,000,000) Yet, Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies!

Concerning his birth Prophesied Fulfilled
1. Born of the seed of woman Gen 3:15 Gal 4:4
2. Born of a virgin Isa 7:14 Mt 1:18-25
3. Seed of Abraham Gen 22:18 Mt 1:1

Today, the only way Bible scoffers can explain away this astronomical probability is to discredit the prophecies in one way or another. Their only alternative is to accept that God is the author of the Scriptures. The Bible is a reliable book of genuine divine prophecy. You can trust it!

Still waiting for you to explain the prophesies in there that have not come true or the opposite actually happened. I listed several in the other thread. Needless to say your link conveniently ignores them.

You have yet to offer any evidence that the prophecies were fulfilled in actuality and not just pencil-whipped into fulfillment by the later authors.

I think the Bible does mention something about the Jews returning to Israel, but it is a bit fuzzy as to whether it meant from Egypt 2000 years ago or 1948.
