http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-29098632 A small asteroid about the size of a house will fly past Earth on Sunday, US space agency Nasa says. The asteroid, 2014 RC, was due to pass over New Zealand at 18:18 GMT. It is about 60 ft (18 m) in size. It will be about 40,000 km (25,000 miles) away, posing no danger to Earth, Nasa said. While it will be too small at that distance to see with the naked eye, amateur astronomers with telescopes may glimpse it as it passes, Nasa added. The asteroid was first discovered on 31 August, and, at its closest approach, will be about one-tenth of the distance from the centre of the Earth to the moon, Nasa said in a statement. I am slightly worried that they only discovered this last week, and it passed pretty close to Earth. I just hope that if something like this actually collides with the Earth in the future, then we get more warning. |

Yeah I agree, what if they only discovered that an asteroid, which was about to actually hit earth, just days before it happened? I'm sure we don't have to worry about that, but it still could be a possibility. |

Of course . How big will they need to be? Update: Looks like a small chunk of it did hit the Earth after all, in Nicaragua. Fortunately, nobody was hurt: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-29106843 Edited by CJ, Sep 8 2014, 02:52 PM.

thing is the size of it made it not that important. if it was mansion size or bigger then you need to worry. Stonehenge railgun network: http://acecombat.wikia.com/wiki/Stonehenge_Turret_Network |

Looks good. We started work on one of those 5,000 years ago, but sadly, we ran out of money and it was never finished .

That is, assuming that Stonehenge was intended as a big railgun. It might not have been. The Goodies presented an alternative theory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kl8SRrlbbN0&t=45s |

i still say a 1200mm 8 set of railguns would be sufficient if they used high powered nuclear rounds. or even hydrogen rounds. |
