http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-27054366 The most Earth-like planet yet has been discovered, scientists report in the journal Science. The rocky planet, Kepler 186f, is close to the size of Earth and has the potential to hold liquid water, which is critical for life, the team says. Nestled in the Milky Way, it is part of a five-planet system that orbits around a cool dwarf star. It was spotted by the Kepler telescope, which has found nearly 1,000 new worlds since its launch in 2009. Kepler 186f is about 500 light-years away from the Earth. Wow, this does sound very Earth-like. I'll be especially interested if it turns out to have liquid water! |

You can if you'd like, but since it's 500 years away, I think I'll stay here XD |

Yeah, although I do think we could possibly inhabit the planet in the future. Maybe. It does seem very much like earth so it would make sense.

That's true. Just as long as we're not going to run into any intelligent life there .

*500 light years. As current speeds, It'd take much longer. With a quick google search, at current tech level it will take us 25,000 years for 1 light year. So if that's right, 12,500,000 year roadtrip anyone? |

Yeah, that's what I meant - but I'm definitely not interested in a 12,500,000-year road trip!!! |
