A very minor case of serious brain damage

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-23553074 A 10-year-old German boy has found what appears to be a mummy hidden in a corner of his grandmother's attic. The "mummy" was inside a sarcophagus complete with hieroglyphic adornments, packed in a wooden crate. But it is unclear whether the bandaged item found by Alexander Kettler in Diepholz, northern Germany, is a genuine relic from ancient Egypt. Alexander's father Lutz Wolfgang Kettler, a dentist, said he had not X-rayed the mysterious find. Instead he plans to load it into his car and drive it to Berlin to be examined by experts, he told the Bild newspaper. Wow, it is sometimes worth sorting through your old stuff to see what you can find! It'll be interesting to see whether it's genuine. |

That is creepy and weird, at first I was going to say I wonder why the grandmother had a mummy until I read the article. I don't see how that is very legal to just take a mummy.... I think it's weird that they had mummy un-rapping parties.... what... |

Well, there would have been plenty of mummies back then. Probably millions. I don't think anyone would have cared .

This page claims that these "unwrapping parties" are nothing more than an urban myth: http://www.smartalecksguide.com/2011/09/victorian-mummy-unwrapping-parties-fact.html The term "unwrapping party" was unknown to Victorians: it first appeared in print very late in the 20th Century. Public unwrappings of mummies did occur, but they took the form of academic lectures rather than parties. |

I don't think I would have been. The ten-year-old me was really into that sort of thing .The only thing that would have creeped me out about it is that my house was only three years old at the time, lol. |
