A very minor case of serious brain damage

Since we're a bit thin on contests at the moment, let's give this another go. The host thinks of a word, and gives a broad category into which that word falls, e.g. "Places". The object of the game is to work out what that word is, by doing two things: 1) Asking "Yes" or "No" questions. The host must answer these truthfully with either "Yes" or "No" (though they may also answer "Sometimes" if this is more applicable, and elaborate on this if they choose; or they can refuse the question entirely if they don't want to get into technical arguments, or they feel that answering the question satisfactorily would give too much away). 2) Guessing what the word is. Guesses do not count as questions, but if anybody makes 3 incorrect guesses, then they are out of the game for the duration of that round. (Guesses should be clearly marked as such; make sure they can't be mistaken for questions!) The game is considered over when one of the following happens: 1) Somebody guesses the word correctly. In this case, whoever made the correct guess wins. 2) 20 questions (not counting any refused questions) have been asked. In this case, the host wins. 3) Three full days pass without a question being asked. In this case, nobody wins. If somebody other than the host wins, then they win 3 posts per remaining question (e.g. if 14 questions were asked, then 6 questions remain, and so the winner receives 3 x 6 = 18 posts). If the host wins, they receive 20 posts. In addition, the winner may host the next round - though if they do not do so within three days, they forfeit their right to do so, and anybody may host the next round. Also, in the case that nobody wins, anybody may host the next round. A Blue Ribbon is awarded if the answer is guessed correctly after 10 questions or fewer have been asked. Finally, all of the rules from PL's original version still apply here, except for any that conflict with the above rules. So, here's the first round. I've thought of a city. 20Q / 60 posts remaining. Edited by CJ, Dec 3 2012, 03:52 AM.

I assume you're guessing? It isn't Tokyo, so you have 2 guesses remaining. Still 10Q / 30 posts left. |
