Fill each noun, number, verb, and adjective with a word of your choice. Funniest entry wins. Only one entry per person. Please try to make it thematic and interesting as these will probably be likely indicators of a winner. Below is the Gettysburg Address, but you will make it your own address to work with (future ones I may not tell where they came from). Anyway, good luck. Contest ends 12/15/12 unless I need to change it. Please bold wherever you make corrections (you can use all black if you'd like to). The winner of the round then gets to post the next mad lib. To get a blue ribbon, your mad libs post must be liked by three or more people (and please do click "like" for the mad libs of other people that you believe go above and beyond). I hope this is okay criteria (it gives the "like" button some justice), though I'm skeptical about the number of responses to this. I don't want the blue ribbon to be rested on the decision of one person, nor do I believe every winner should get one. Additionally, the winner will get 40 posts for a winning entry. The first mad libs entry is below: The noun Address Number noun and number noun our plural noun brought forth on this noun, a adjective noun, conceived in noun, and verb-past tense to the noun that all noun are created equal. Now we are verb-past tense in a great adjective noun, testing whether that noun, or any same noun as previous so conceived and so verb past tense, can long verb. We are met on a great noun of that noun. We have come to verb a portion of that noun, as a final verb ending in -ing place for those who here gave their noun that that noun might live. It is altogether adjective and adjective that we should do this. But, in a(n) adjective sense, we can not verb -- we can not verb -- we can not verb -- this noun. The brave noun, adjective and adjective, who verb past tense here, have verb past tense it, far above our adjective power to verb or verb. The noun will little verb, nor long verb what we say here, but it can never verb what they did here. It is for us the adjective, rather, to be verb past tense here to the unfinished noun which they who verb past tense here have thus far so nobly verb past tense. It is rather for us to be here verb past tense to the great noun remaining before us -- that from these honored noun we take verb past tense devotion to that cause for which they verb past tense the last full noun of noun -- that we here highly verb that these noun plural shall not have verb past tense in vain -- that this noun, under noun, shall have a new birth of noun -- and that noun of the noun, by the noun, for the noun, shall not perish from the noun. Interesting contest. I suppose it's a blend of the Creative Writing Contest and the Missing Words Contest . I'll see what I can come up with. |

Yeah, it is. I figured it was more in the blue ribbon category since you're directly working with words and only being creative by the idea of arranging and using these words. Edited by thecostumedanceparty, Nov 25 2012, 06:05 PM.

I'd say that's fair. It's probably closer to blue than any of the others - and in any case, I won't change people's categorizations unless they're obviously wrong (e.g. an art contest classed as a connecting wall). |

If you think it's the other, you can change it. The actual ribbon used is the least of my worries. EDIT: Changed rules, and also for awarding a ribbon. Edited by thecostumedanceparty, Nov 25 2012, 06:18 PM.

When I first saw your criteria for the Blue Ribbon, I thought "Great idea!". However, then I realized that people could easily get a ribbon for themselves - regardless of the quality of their entry - just by getting three of their friends to hit the 'Like' button on their post - so unfortunately, I think that system is too open to abuse to be workable .

Well, I'll certainly give it a try. Also, if you're going to use the like thing, I'd suggest that you make it that only the winning entry is eligible for a ribbon, and out of the three "likes", one must come from another entrant. Edited by Pyrite, Nov 25 2012, 06:57 PM.

Perfect, yes I agree. I intended the liking for only the winner, and I also agree that it needs to be one of the competitors. I will also make a note that the "liking" expires once the winner is announced. |

TBH, that system is still open to abuse, just as long as one of those three friends makes their own entry. |

Then what do you propose is the most logical way to offer a ribbon? We usually don't have enough people who want to be involved with the "ribbon awarding board members" that we originally proposed. If so, we could only count votes from this context. Furthermore, I have not seen the "like" button abused as of yet in ths manner you speak of. Not saying that it can't or won't happen, I just personally have yet to see it. Edited by thecostumedanceparty, Nov 25 2012, 07:39 PM.

Well, the reason why you haven't seen it being abused in that context is because we've never used a system like this before . If you want to try it out, then go ahead; it may turn out that this abuse isn't a big problem after all (and, in any case, practice trumps theory). However, I wouldn't be surprised if you find that you have to revert to a "ribbon board" system or a system where it's based on one member. Speaking of "ribbon boards", if you did decide to go with one, then I'd be happy to sit on one. |

Okay, I will hold off on the blue ribbon for now and just let the contest go as is (I'll figure out something). |

Are we still going ahead with this (if so, we'll need a new judge)? |

Looks like we're not going ahead with this after all. I think we can quite safely archive it. |
