Here is the second creative writing contest. In order to be eligible for a ribbon, I have decided that there needs to be at least three entries to earn a ribbon. Everyone who participates will get a rank according to a scale I'll evaluate them on. The number of posts you win will be determined by this scale.

In this contest, use one or all of the pictures below in a poem, short story, script, journal, (whatever you want), no longer than 2500 words. Also use at least three of the words or phrases from the word bank. I will not grade by length, only by content, though entries may be graded differently depending on the genre. You may interpret the pictures in any way you'd like to (as long as it makes sense in your writing).

Picture #1: http://img.scoop.it/McqkUFyWu7A5schNJ3wC0zl72eJkfbmt4t8yenImKBVaiQDB_Rd1H6kmuBWtceBJ

Picture #2: http://www.imax.com.au/content/films/gallery/Antarctica_lrge.jpg

Picture #3: http://www.icanhasinternets.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/cows.jpg

Words and phrases (each separated by comma): Abraham Lincoln, jamming, lava, thong, knight, carrot, ooglie-booglie, laser, polar, pole-dancing, porcelain, kaleidoscope, snowball, Spiderman, bliss, lovable, big secret, penguin robot, parkour, skinny jeans, pelican, sieve, mustache, lobster, aerial

(if there are British differences, I count them)

Scale to grade:

1. Creativity (out of 10): how original? is it interesting?
2. Structure (out of 10): how do you piece it together? does everything belong where it is?
3. Voice (out of 10): how does the persona come through the text?
4. Engaging (out of 10): do I want to read more?
5. Plot (out of 10): is there more than one plot? is the plot believable?
6. Characters (out of 10): are the characters original? not like emotionless robots (unless they truly are one)?
7. Dialogue (out of 10): is what people say really what they will say?
8. Flow (out of 10): Does the piece flow well together? Are there any breaks in the plot?
9. Theme (out of 10): Does the reader have a common theme?
10. response to above criteria (out of 10): do you use at least one picture? Do you use at least three words? (1 extra point added for each use)

Looks like it's a lot, but I'll try to be lenient. Some of these cross-over and there are extra credit points. Please get writing!

Well, I'll try. Think I'm gonna be using the Antarctica picture.

Also, this is definitely the right time to bring in the rest of my game cast.

Sounds great! I wanted one to be thematic, which is why the Antarctica pic is there.

Is there a deadline for this?

I've already got an idea for my story, and I'm going to start it this weekend.

Let's make it December 31st.

You can also connect to the three pictures as little or as much as possible, though I will take this into account when grading.

And for those of you have/like them, personal journal entries do count as long as the above rules are abided.

Since I finish at university soon, time will become less of an issue for me, so I should be able to enter this one :) .

Sounds great! Don't forget 2,500 words max, otherwise it's hard for me to read all the entries.

Are we still going to run this? Sadly, I can't see any more people than me and you entering :( .

Yeah - this isn't even going to run as a proper contest really :( . I think I'd best archive it.
