A very minor case of serious brain damage

I think it's safe to say that Italian Alex Zanardi's sporting career has been unique. You may very well know the story by now: in the 1990s and early 2000s, he participated in both the Formula One and CART championships, until he suffered a horrifying accident in the latter, in which he lost both of his legs. However, this wasn't the end of his career, as he returned to racing just two years later in European touring cars. He then switched over to hand cycling, and made one of the major stories of the Paralympics by winning three medals, two of them gold. Now, BMW Motorsport has offered him a test drive in the DTM series, and he's considering a return to competition with them.

I don't know an awful lot about about touring car racing, but I do know that DTM is pretty high-level: a lot of successful Formula One drivers (such as Ralf Schumacher, Mika Häkkinen and David Coulthard) have raced there once their F1 careers were over. In any case, I hope Zanardi makes the right choice for himself: he's a true inspiration, and I wish him every success in his future endeavours.
