No, that's not the reasoning.

But to be honest, I think my reasoning isn't as good as your original one.

A very minor case of serious brain damage

Well, it's original - I can say that.

I have no idea whether it'll be allowed; it's never happened before, so we don't have any rules for it :P !

It's not a whole lot different from your blank space one. I think it could count, but of course it's up to PL.

First one is, again, close. You're getting closer, especially with signalling out Jamie Jones as Welsh.

Second one is very original, that's for sure :P . I'm not sure what to do, as there's no current rules about it. I think I'll allow it, though.

Hamilton/Jackson/Jones/Kennedy/Karstens: all baseball players

Josh Hamilton
Austin Jackson or Edwin Jackson
Andruw Jones or Adam Jones or Chipper Jones
Ian Kennedy
Jeff Karstens

(added some names, but my original five were there)

Nicklaus/Karstens/Vonn/Friedel: all American sports players that are seasonal (yet crossover)

-Jack Nicklaus, golf, summer
-Jeff Karstens, baseball, fall
-Lindsey Vonn, skiing, winter
-Brad Friedel, football (soccer), spring

Guaranteed that's wrong and it's completely inaccurate, but I'm just throwing the idea out there.

Not the reasoning I had, though I still think mine's too picky. As a clue, it's related to their surnames.

You mean structurally?

I wouldn't say structurally, no.

I wouldn't say structurally, no.
Well, aren't all of these related by surnames? I don't understand the clue...

It's related to their descent.

Yeah, I'll accept that.

They are American sportspeople of German descent/with German surnames.

Well, I pretty much already approved the American part, so I basically answered it (just in two parts).

Three guesses (all for last combo):

-Bond/Carter/Murphy/Jones
-Bond/Carter/Jones/Hamilton
-Bond/Carter/Hamilton/Murphy

Reasoning: all high ranking (British) snooker players (most of these highest rankings fall within 20)

Nigel Bond
Ali Carter
Shaun Murphy (British) or Terry Murphy (Ireland)
Anthony Hamilton
all the Jones previously mentioned

3rd guess is correct.

Reason is very close, but not correct. Think about the highest ranked "Jones" and what separates him from Carter, Murphy, Hamilton and Bond.

Bond/Carter/Hamilton/Murphy: all have their highest ranking as #10 or lower

That's the best I can do, seeing as "snooker" isn't the same in the U.S.A. (we call it Billiards or Pool)

That's not it.

Your original reasoning was close because you mentioned nationality. The reason isn't to do with ranking.

All top-ranking English snooker players, though I didn't say this because you said CJ's was wrong.

That's correct.

CJ's was British snooker players, which would also have included Jamie Jones, as he's Welsh.

I actually said that again, then changed it.
