Anyone heard of dingbats? They're similar to rebuses in a way, but they do have differences, in that they are not just limited to pictures. They still contain a phrase which must be deciphered. It's probably best to illustrate this with an example. Here's a simple dingbat: ![]() This dingbat means "fork in the road", because the word "fork" is hidden inside the word "road". You get 10 posts per dingbat solved. Everyone gets a maximum of three guesses per day. ![]() There are some I'd consider relatively easy, and others I'd consider to be quite hard. Think carefully about what each picture is showing. Whoever wins the contest gets to post the next lot, and so on. BTW: The numbers are nothing to do with the answers, there just there to make it clearer which one your answering. 1) Ping Pong - Answered by CJ 2) Gross injustice - Answered by CJ 3) Calm before the Storm - Answered by CJ 4) Unanswered 5) Blood's Thicker than Water - Answered by Vicious Vixen 6) Just in Time - Answered by CJ 7) Lone Wolf - Answered by CJ 8) Unanswered Leaderboard CJ - 50 posts Vicious Vixen - 10 posts If someone gets all 8 dingbats correct on two different rounds, or gets at least 6 correct on two consecutive rounds (including the two that the person running that round thinks are the two hardest, they will get a blue ribbon (If CJ thinks this is too easy/hard a target, he can change it)

Yeah, I suppose so. And all three of those are correct. So that's 30 posts to you. BTW: What category of contests would you say this fits in? |

Are you thinking about Official Awards here? This doesn't fit neatly into any of the categories, but it's closest to a word game. |

Yeah, just in case we get any exceptional performances here that deserve a ribbon. Yeah, word games probably fits best. |

That's very close to the right answer. You still have one guess left for today. Edited by Pyrite, Jul 18 2012, 10:55 PM.

Yep, that's fine with me: Here are the answers to the last two: 4) Three Piece Suite (Three Ps Sweet) 8) Bubble Over. So CJ wins 50 posts and Katie wins 10 posts. Congratulations CJ! You can do the next round if you want to. |

And it isn't. Just in case this wasn't clear, I'm using asterisks to indicate the important bit of the picture, like how you used the arrow in your 7th one. |
