Yes, I'd say so.

I found another, and I think it's the tough one.

Crouch/Rookwood/Gibbon/Nott: all death eaters in the Harry Potter series

-Gibbon
-Bartemius "Barty" Crouch Jr.
-Nott Sr.
-Augustus Rookwood

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Harry_Potter_characters

The names needed deciphering, so I looked them up and found connections to Harry Potter. I better step back and let others participate now. I don't want to take everything. Although I believe I have only one guess left for today anyway so I might as well use it if I have the chance.

Correct combo, with correct reasoning :) .

So, you've managed three main combos, and you've got the reasoning for two of them. You're on a roll today! (And you still have 1 guess left too)

Just guessing the reasoning for can/have/must/know... we have infinite guesses for reasons, right? Doubt this is right, but I'll give it a try nonetheless.

They contain other words inside them.

-can/an
-have/ha
-must/us
-know/now

Pod/Spear/Colour/Glyceride - I think they can all be preceded with tri...

@Adam: Yes, you do have infinite guesses for the reasoning. That isn't it, though.

@PL: So close! Sadly, one of those isn't in the combo.

Pod/Be/Colour/Glyceride - Preceded with tri

Although I'm not sure tribe would count...

glyceride/ordinate/colour/pod

All can have tri in front

If this is right, please give the reasoning points to PL since he really figured that part out. That's my last guess for today.

PL's version of the combo (with 'Tribe') was correct. It was also the one I couldn't get - so 40 points for the reasoning, or 55 in total!

Adam, you've already used your five guesses for today, so I wouldn't have been able to allow it in any case. PL still has three guesses (I thought he'd used more, but apparently not....)

I thought I had one guess left? My last guess (before that one) was just a reasoning.

Not that it matters anyway, but just checking...

Water/Washers/Marine/Amazon - All to do with water

That's the only combo I can think of.

Take 15 points for an invented combo.

Shadow/Cat/Water/Spear: all relating to emotional fears

-fear of animals (cat)
-fear of darkness (shadow)
-fear of ocean (water)
-fear of sharp edges (spear)

EDIT: Changed candle to water

That's actually almost a group, but the reasoning is totally different.

I'll give you 15 points for an invented combo.

Reasoning for have/know/can/must:

They are all auxiliary modal verbs.

Good, but unfortunately, not the reasoning given.

However, it's perfectly valid reasoning, so I'll get Penguin to look at it, and see whether she accepts it.

candle/gateau/cat/shadow: a birthday for your favorite cat named Shadow :P

Not sure if this counts as an invented combo or not:

Be/Water/Glyceride/Lime: all chemical elements and reactions learned in chemistry class

-Be: beryllium
-water: H2O
-glyceride: esters formed from glycerol and fatty acids
-lime: calcium containing inorganic materials

The first one was just a joke, although I wanted to see if the combo really fit.

Shadow/Jet/Marine/Cat - All names of characters from the "Sonic the Hedgehog" franchise.

Shadow the Hedgehog, Jet the Hawk and Marine the Raccoon from the game series.

And there was a character called Cat in one of the cartoons.

Hey PL, can you show me who Cat is? I've never heard of him/her. I'm interested in knowing. (sorry this part is off-topic)

Ah, okay cool. Never seen him before. Great combo.
Marine/jet/spear/water: military tactics?

"Spear" would indicate penetration.

Sorry for double post.
