I'm scared of it too, even if it's miles away!

I haven't seen any very clearly for a while, though :( .

I did get a thunderstorm last night. From counting the time between the lightning and the thunder, it was about a kilometre away, but I was safe in my house :) .

I did think about trying to get a video, but in the end, I didn't.

Irrelevant but still relevant

We've had lightning strike very close to us, people always scream when it strikes, it's actually pretty funny if you ask me. Annoying when it effects the electricity and such though, it aims for tall objects like trees. You will be safe in a car during lightning.

I suppose that makes sense. The lightning always follows the path of least resistance, and a car isn't really tall enough to affect that path, so it wouldn't 'aim' for the car. Of course, the poor trees are less fortunate :P .

Would you be safe in a double-decker bus, though? I'm not sure...

And a car is cased and you won't get wet. I'm not sure either, may have to google that. x3

Yeah. I suppose the seats in the bus don't conduct electricity, so I imagine you'd be safe if you were sitting down.

Provided it's not an open-top bus, that is....this is getting more complicated :P .

Well, planes can get stuck by lightning, and most times the plane survives.

I wouldn't be surprised if that happens a lot.

Well, if the lightning strikes in a certain spot, it may cause the gas tank to explode.

Well, I'm no expert - but I'm guessing it wouldn't be too hard to protect that spot?

I find Lightning very relaxing, I used to be scared but I came to realise how nice it is.

I actually go outside and stand in the rain whilst it's thundering/lightning. ^_^

You're lucky! It scares me... although I do love the sound of thunder. Very relaxing.

It's the Catatumbo lightning, off the coast of Venezuela. Apart from a few months in 2010 when it stopped due to drought, it's been going continually for centuries.

My house was struck by lightning once (well actually twice, it was struck by lightning before I moved into it as well) so ever since then I've been scared of it.

It does look nice in the sky though.

Wow, that does sound like it would be scary.

Anyway, so much for lightning never striking twice :P .
