After spending the four regular-season games against the Celtics [team stats] in a proverbial desert, Dwyane Wade opened up on them yesterday like one of those cloudbursts that rolls through here on summer afternoons. That Wade went for 38 points on 14-for-21 shooting isn’t overly remarkable in the context of his career. That he did it after making 16-of-57 shots (28.1 percent) and averaging 12.8 points in TGTDRC (the games that don’t really count) made this more satisfying for Wade and the Heat in their 99-90 Game buy runescape gold 1 win over the Celts. “It’s a combination of things,” said Wade. “I studied film. I knew where my spots would be to get shots. My first shot was a pull-up in the gap that they have been giving me. Then it just opened up different things. “My teammates did a good job of finding me and getting me the ball so I could stay aggressive. I just have to make the shots. In the other games rs gold I didn’t make the shots that I made tonight. I stayed aggressive even when I missed some shots.” It’s not like he didn’t have positive experience against the Celtics in such situations. Wade did shoot 56.4 percent and average 33.2 points runescape money in Miami’s playoff loss to the C’s last year. But that’s when he was unencumbered by the needs of LeBron James. The Celtics accepted it as Dwyane being Dwyane. “It’s tough,” said coach Doc Rivers. “Honestly you’re not going to do a lot about that. I thought a lot of them were contested, tough shots. And when he makes them, he makes them. “That’s why he’s the second greatest player ever to come out of Marquette,” cracked Rivers, himself an MU product. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra went to the University runescape items of Portland, but he still finds a way to appreciate Wade. “Dwyane is a special player,” he said. “He really is. I’ve said this so many times: He just figures it out. He is very diligent. He’s had a couple of days now to see how they were defending him. “He has proven so many times during the playoffs that when the defense is at its best, he figures it out and finds a way to crack the code. “They were very committed to getting the ball out of his hands and keeping him out of the paint.” Looking back to the earlier games against the Celtics, Spoelstra said, “We were confident about it. He has been in this situation before. To be fair — and no disrespect to Boston runescape accounts and their defense; they’re very good — but Dwyane wasn’t in rhythm. He missed the entire preseason. It took him about three or four weeks to not only get into rhythm, but understand how his role changed and where he fit in with the team.” It’s a good bet Wade’s 38 didn’t fit the C’s plan for yesterday. |
